Indicated Rate – Bloomberg Generic Composite Rate mid-rate on the current day.
Daily Adjusted Rate – Bloomberg Generic Composite Rate on the day payment is processed plus 5%.
Ooh that 5% is really sneaky but the quantum of the charge is not really out of the ordinary.

For example, I put a dummy transaction into amazon.com and amazon wanted to charge me 1.455 usd-sgd rate (google rate is 1.375) which works out to a 5.8% spread over google rate.

Credit cards FX transactions they whack you with a FX spread and then add on ~3% charge on top of that.

Who knows why Agoda does this? Maybe book now pay later they have to price in additional risk of no shows, or maybe they have to pay the hotel earlier? *shrug*

Agoda usually cheaper. Last week, used Hotels.com for a 3 night stay outside KL. Agoda was around S$150 while it was around S$210 for the other site. But it was pay at hotel.

Do other hotel booking sites do similar things with book 1st but pay later?

Also to add a feedback about Agoda, sometimes they do Marketing like “deal of the day” “last room available “ etc and it gets you nervous to want to secure the room asap.

After you have booked the room which is still 2 to 3 months away, the room suddenly go on a better offer. If you have choosen Pay now you would not be able to cancel and book at the cheaper rate.

I can still cancel even when i chose Pay Now. Most probably the room you booked does not have free cancellation or you missed out.

agree ... they always have the "deal of the day"...
most are actually not deal ...
even after the timing is over, you might get the price sometimes ...
The timing countdown is to make you nervious and book ...

Yes, it's just their tactic to make you book now. Look around, compare price, then book.

Room with "free cancellation" may be more expensive, if you are confirm why pay more. Unless there is only "free cancellation" room.

I find that Agoda usually got better rates than other booking sites.
Cos I will also use their 10% discount code.
And they also have point/cash award system.

I think is the Agoda cash rebate use for next booking ...
When booking the hotel would reflect on the page itself.
Sometimes the rebate is different.

For example
Hotel a $85 rebate is $2
Hotel b $72 rebate is $6

Depending on hotel, I prefer pay now with free cancellation when my trip is like or less confirmed. Then from time to time, I cancel and rebook if prices drop. I can save as much as $50.

However, if I want to save my cash, I'll choose pay at hotel where the currency is already converted so `fix` but I don't have to pay anything in advance.

The only time I choose pay later is my destination or trip is unconfirm, subject to high possibility of chances.

There's pro and con in each, depending on your situation, it's anot a scam.

Try open this link after you log into your acct. Then whenever you wanna book, enter from this link, copy code and apply. Valid till 31 Dec 2018.

https://www.agoda.com/deals?cid=1731644&pagetypeid=88&searchtype=CitySearch&pcs=1&hl=zh

Using TripAdvisor link would give you the best price most of the times.
However, agoda do give out 5% or 10% Discount
With the discount + using agoda app to book, you might get a cheaper pricing, compared to using the 10% link.

can you confirm you were able to apply the 10% discount code ?
when I tried the Westin Singapore, I was not able to get to the site that could accept the 10% ... that could be why

for hotels in Bali, I could apply the 10% discount (try Abian Harmony Sanur)

I checked again, yup cannot applied to Westin Singapore ...
Perhaps selected international chain hotels and few selected hotels , you would not be able to use discount code.
