using tripadvisor then link to agoda, that would give u lower price,
compared to using other links ...

however, if u r using specific bank links to navigate into agoda, u wont be able to get that low price.

Overall, I see Agoda's service going downhill.

i would say agoda cso so far was good
email them within one day would reply.
maybe becox of my account status , they saw my account have many bookings with them. currently agodavip ...

For expedia, gold member here ...so far also no issue
hotels.com (didnt really book much there). hotels have issue, they took few weeks to settle ... both expedia and hotels.com under the same group ...

I'm also VIP status but I can feel their service not as good as before. I might try others in future.

agoda price guarantee very fast reply ... normally within a day or so ...
that's the good part about them ...

for expedia, they used to have price diff x 2 refund, capped at $125
Done before, to make the stay at $0.01 in the past ...
they have stopped few years back, perhaps due to too many submissions to handle ...

Manage to get the price match refund within the same day as well.
Booked from their website but the apps have different promotion.

normally they would approve your price guarantee within 24 hours ...
prices varies from
(A) Bank promotion link to agoda
(B) shopback link to agoda (price seems higher)
(C) App
(D) Other linkes

Prices can varies from few dollars to 10+ per nite at least ...

was wondering..
pay now in agoda cheaper or pay at hotel cheaper or direct go to the hotel n book a room cheaper..

there alot of way to find those cheap option.. i tried to find out but all use different method to book hotel and save money.

the only thing that direct go hotel book room is using their currency.. n the money changer shop give a good rate than bank or agoda rate.

If you use shopback link, the price will also be higher. If you go in to Agodo directly, it can still be more expensive than going via Google hotel search.

many ways to go to agoda.
go directly to the website
go from credit card promo
go from shopback
go from other links

shopback usually give a much higher price ...
their 6% rebate, might be not worth , price shown is much more than the 6%

Usually this is what I do.

Search for hotels. Once I find a price which I’m willing to accept I’ll contact the hotel to ask for rates. And if they have a match or give lower rates deal.

Most of the time they will give me a better or similar rates. Or free breakfast for the same rates. Better let the hotels make the money directly then those chain websites.

most of the times, when ota provide their own discount
u cant let the hotel know you are using the coupons ...

they would only match if the rate is available to the public, not using coupons.

Not going to use Agoda any more.
Seems like the work in concert with the hotels to screw the guest.

Book hotel at a seemingly very low rate. Says pay on check-in.
But when I got to the hotel they say my credit card payment did not go through on the day of check-in.

The hotel then says they are full and I had to book another hotel at the same day at a much higher rate.
I doubt the hotel actually put in the credit card payment as they know they could sell the room at a much higher rate than quoted to me.

Another time Agoda says this is a last minute 3 day special with breakfast included. But when I click on the payment page there was no mention of breakfast and I did not notice on the right hand column it says for the room only. So I actually paid more for the room than if I had book directly from the hotel.

This is one trick too many for me.

Well I had it worst..

I booked a property in Tokyo, for a period of 6 nights.

Everything was fine and property owner accepted the deal etc..

Then suddenly, Property owner says they have keyed in wrong rate.
I spoke to AGODA CSO, they said property owner will have to honour the deal.

I thought wow great.. didnt think CSO was so onz..

But days later, the worst came.. CSO says another story and claims that nothing can be done but they can help to relocate. I thought ok if they are able to relocate at no additional cost etc I'm fine with it.

They sent me 2 property and asked which I preferred, I chose and made a selection within the day, or rather within hours. I checked on the dates if it was available thoughout the hours which CSO didnt reply.

Eventually they came back and said it was not available and they will proceed to locate another property, I gave them the easy way out, I told them my dates were pretty much fixed but location can be further way and i dont mind.

Within mins they said nothing is available. I was stunned..

So the best they could provide with is a subsidize of 50% of my 1st booking of $216. So i was supposed to get at least $108 back provided I spent at least $216.

What choices do i have?

So i went about looking at different properties in Ago and subsequently made 3 more bookings which amounted to about $230.

I emailed AGODA how will the subsidize work? they tell me that I am not able to utilize it.

Reason being that, check in date is different and it needs to be booked in 1 hotel and not multiple.

I emailed them time and time, every single time, I speak to a different CSO and they service sucks..

I was eventually provided with 35$ AGODA cash.

JOKE..

Screw you AGODA..

I use agoda many times, lucky so far no problem. I think most of the problem is the hotel example overbooked, no record of booking etc...
To double confirm, you can email or call up the hotel to check your booking.

Nowadays, if book directly at hotel webpage 60 days in advance is far more cheaper than agoda.
