Seems like now whatever cc used also need 1% DCC but after cancel using the free cancellation can claw back this 1% from bank lo (just more troublesome)

not all accommodation on agoda has a pay now option? if pay later might end up with extra charge or having to make some balance payment directly to the accommodation. trying to minimize any currency losses.

non-refundable bookings usually is pay now ...
pay later option, the exchange rate would be based on that day your card has been charged ... usually wont recommend that ...

pay at the hotel option is also one of the payment option for very few selected hotels ...

Actually would prefer to take non refundable ones and pay now but seems that not all accommodation have that option. Some accommodation only have pay later options, while some require partial payment online and balance at accommodation. Example would be agoda hotels (have pay now option) versus agoda home (partial payment or pay later only).. :s22: :s22:

usually would use agoda to book hotel ...
pay later is normally for free cancellations hotel ...

if you are very certain you are staying at that hotel, you may want to use the pay now option ... usually would book hotels with free cancellations ...
in case there are better options along the way ...

would book for non-refundable, if the rate is super attractive ...
For example, a 4* hotel in singapore with breakfast buffet for $81+

anyone approached agoda about their cancellation policy? seems that they are very dependent on the accommodation to decide if there are any full/partial refund.

Agoda was dragging their feet so I emailed hotel (Seoul) who were happy to cancel the non-refundable booking without penalty. Forwarded that email to Agoda and booking was cancelled within hours.

Agoda could not make the decision. They would need to contact the hotel to make the decision. Have to managed to cancel my hotels and get a refund from Agoda, though the hotel booking is non-refundable, for jun n sep trip ...

I've cancelled my free cancellation hotel bookings on 22 March, until now haven't received the refund :( very worried now.

Those bookings are charged by their Singapore payment processor. I've cancelled other Agoda bookings, which were booked more recently, under their London payment processor and got the refunds within 3 days.

Anyone facing the same issue?

It has been less than 10 working days. Give them some slack. The 3 days was exceptional, to be honest.

I got my refund within 3 days. Reached out to the hotel directly to ask for free cancellation and proceed to cancel on agoda.
