Now there's a $50$ off minus $300 purchase for qoo10.

I just calculate my cost of each RMB29 hepa for the AX40, is about S$8 a piece, including 4px shipping to door.
Can on full blast and spam 24/7

Actually, I have been saying since 2014 2 years ago in Air Purifier Part 1 that the AX40 can filter PM0.1 already....also from the Taobao seller sites stating a Shanghai agency's test result just that i cannot vouch if it's 100% verified/legit or a scam documentation. (though there are still people in other AP threads saying that China agencies cannot be trusted at all). Or they just pulled it from a marketing literature from Samsung. But that 99% @ 0.1 microns "feature" is already there, not that it makes much of a difference to us in real life. Check the above, the Sharp H13 True HEPA filters do PM0.1 decently as well.

Actually i wasn't the first one who said that in 2014 i think, someone else posted that.

not sure why but Samsung advertised the 2014 AX40 as > 99.7% 0.3um. from the filter options under the various Qoo sellers, the filter for the 2014 AX40 and 2016 AX40 are different. the 2016 AX40 filter got 3-step and 4-step types.

It is. The old filter is CFX-2TCD and new filter is CFX-B100D.

It is a mystery because if you check qoo10 and even official Samsung websites, there isn't even any mention of CADR/airflow figures.
However, you can see them on Taobao, and if you do not believe Taobao, then there is the China consumer's association (http://www.cca.org.cn) from its tests. (post the airflow in next post)

But like i said, a few others and I already know that the old AX40/AX022/AX41 (and also the "somewhat old" AX60/AX70 7000 series, which are superceded by the new series with WiFi/cloud) are marketed to have PM0.1 capability back from 2014. In fact it's documented in the Air Purifier thread Part 1 with posts way back in early 2014.

What i really mean to say is that it's not an unknown spec....i sometimes use this to counter arguments when other AP brand users say that their HEPA is special and can "go down more".

However, our source is not from qoo10 but from Taobao. Where did the TB sellers get this info from? I don't know. Sites/pages may have changed if you base your searches currently from google etc.

Anyway, some others and I mentioned that the old model is really priced too low. Main tech issue is that they left out the damn medium speed mode. It's even Made in Korea, if that's your thing.


For those who wants this "extra assurance" that the, i guess can pay the 20% higher price. Found that it's like $319.9 + 29 = 348 for the AX40K3020 + 1 extra filter. The old one used to be like $279-289 shipped.

I'm not sure what's the CADR/airflow though. It's 41.6 sqm -> 39sqm for the new one though or a drop of 7%....not a lot So even if there is a difference in PM0.1 filtration efficiency, the airflow wipes a fair bit of that away already.


PS. Another funny thing is that i see that the "old" CFX-2TCD seems to be usable in the new AX40K3020.
It might be all are the same size, but the new CFX-B100D has slightly better specs for that extra filtration @ 0.1 microns. But airflow drops a little.

Both the AX40H5000 and AX40K3020 are 34W. Probably really same innards.

PPS. Heck, present AX40H5000 users can just try the new CFX-B100D filter, take a gamble that it'd fit.

But ultimately, this PM0.1 spec is not gonna be making any difference in real life. Simply because (1) the old one is going to be decent in that department as well. (2) We don't have much of a UFP issue here in SG, probably due to low traffic emissions (diesel especially) and whatnots.

If you are in Thailand, Indonland...traffic consists of modified diesels and old modded cars/motorbikes without catalysts even, then maybe yes.

Actually it's for the AX041, its CADR is a whopping 367 m3/hr though. Formaldehyde removal CADR is tested to be 44.8 m3/hr

They have other tests from IQAir, Blueair, Sharp etc.

I managed to find my post.... it's not really for the AX40H5000 but more for the local 240V 50Hz model AX022 (the small one). Tested by Shanghai agency.

But the left pane, they mixed it up. The AX40 (or similar) is 323 m3/hr airflow.
The AX022 is 188 m3/hr. They posted 2 pics. But the PM0.1 tests are legit
They do test similarly for the AX60/AX70 7000 series as well.


It is also possible that they wanna market this performance aspect as well now, in order to differentiate from other brands and AP models.

It is also possible that the new filter CFX-B100D is simply made to be slightly higher spec, and that's on purpose coz this is one of their main marketing point.

I suspected this would present itself as a small issue, but never thought that it would accumulate so fast.

XM AP 2 no such issue.

This is also why you read folks saying that the Xiaomi 1 is very powerful, much more powerful than other fans. Or Xiaomi balancing a ball at the intakes etc.

In an APed room here in Singapore's usage context, you would already have an aircon blowing/mixing air also though, so seriously it's not totally necessary.

But i guess over a longer few moths of accumulated usage, some dust would start to accumulate at that inner wall as well, so it'd be pretty difficult to get rid of totally unless you wrap a wet tissue onto a stick and dig in. (ie first picture above, the inner part of the body shell of the AP, due to eddy air currents). Coz there are only 2 side holes.

The issue i see is that it would accumulate over a long period during normal usage. Once you blast jet mode, some dust would be blown out. Not unlike a dirty fan that you have not washed for very long time.

That's also why you will never get anywhere close to zero at the output of XM1. But this is normal for the mixed air - CADR is not affected.

Mixing air is to prevent bypass.

I notice even sharp a50 has a small outlet blowing air out to front, that is on top outlet.

As for balancing, it's a marketing gimmick by xiaomi. I am an engineer, basically all rotating parts need to be balanced if not it will shake itself to bits and tear the rotating component and/or damage the bearings. It's very important for high rpm devices.

You can compare the desk fans sold in ntuc those power pac and those Panasonic and kdks.

Just a cheap marketing ploy by xiaomi.

Humm...was thinking of the option of getting a XM1 as a 2nd AP for my living room+dinning room area. Like that maybe I would wait and see how first.
