This is AA and 200mA, but you get the idea. I think smoke detectors are like what...0.02mA? :s13:

High drain a bit different, but low drain all the same literally (or you get lithium primary)

Interesting, lithium primaries are prob at best 2X more capacity at low drain vs cheap alkaline. That means twice longer in smoke detectors.
But locally, they cost like 10 times more than Amazon basics 9V. YOU CANNOT SHIP LITHIUM PRIMARIES, I THINK.

From looking at the specs compared to AX40H5000GMD, like no/little diff.

Consumption both 34W
Noise both 45db
Size and weight slightly different.
Control strip both exactly the same.

The 2016 model has lower coverage area @ 39.0 sqm, the 2015 has 41sqm.

Using google translate, noticed that they removed one color for the air indicator.

AX40H5000GMD: (Polluted) Red > Orange > Yellow > Green > Blue (Clean)
AX40K3020GWD: (Polluted) Red > Yellow > Green > Blue (Clean)

---------

Maybe there's something lost in translation, but based on a cursory look at the specs, if you didn't state which is newer, the AX40H5000GMD actually looks like the upgraded model.

Great. Thanks for your help.
Just hooted AX40H5000GMD from goniglobal at $288 (total 2 filters)

i kinda got tired of "advising" frens n colleagues because im "overreacting about the haze" so i usually skip the convo to avoid listening to comments like "too much money to spare buy ap so useless" "ap does nothing" bla bla bla

Next trend of things to get in EDMW? :D

Sharing this great vid again....

Unfortunately, Class K Wet Chemical fire extinguishers are expensive locally. At least 200+ dollars. You can send from UK or other countries (cheap) but there is a HAZMAT charge on top of the DHL/FedEx which balloons the shipping so it ends up the same. So use a fire blanket. No expiry too for the fire blanket.

First test shows a big 6kg ABC dry powder on a cooking oil fire. See how it splatters and doesn't do nothing at all.

And these grease fires are not fuel type Class B fires like petroleum stuff petrol/diesel or flammable solvents like alcohol, acetone etc.

Water fire extinguishers are a NO NO too on such grease fires. But I come across something that SCDF does recommend using your fingers to deflect the main spray into a mist so that it cools the cooking pan/receptacle first which enables it to be managed and later put out much easier after cooling. But anyway, without training, it's really not for the layman to try in a real ie CRITICAL situation. Definitely not for your aged parents or even grandma to try and test.

PS. Class K is US standard. Class F is UK/Euro standard. Basically they are the same.

PPS. First vid, you see them using the fire blanket. It gets controlled immediately. PRetty impressive. But what you need to do immediately after that is to quickly cut the heat source. Eg OFF the PUB gas. Else it'd still boil over soon and ka-boom. Switching off the gas = slowly cool. That's the other part of the equation.
In the vid, the re-ignition of the cooking oil fire after using the fire blanket on it = 3 mins 15 secs

AFFF Foam designed for petrol/diesel/solvent fuels, no use at all as shown this video

Hi how much is this at haobao? School should buy these

This one is RMB2899 or 616SGD. Shipping can take about 1cbm, which goes for RMB500 or SGD111.

The other standing ones of 1200x600x320mm are about 1100-1500RMB range....they flow about 1200-1500m3/hr from what I see. 2 definitely can fit into 1 cbm.

These are really for landed properties or large penthouses. I don't reckon folks like to take care of say 6 pieces of IQAir 250, even if they are loaded (SGD13-14k) .

Yep, schools oughta get these. But you know, it's Singapore here, so we won't procure such things, probably not even as proof-of-concept.
MOE is going to purchase many more air purifiers though and also consider to lower the PSI thresholds for the various actions compared to last time, from the latest news that I have read.

That's why we got puny/funny stuff like what you saw in MOH polyclinics, I felt one's output before and the airflow was laughable at best.
Not sure what did MOE bought.

That's why they said it's not feasible to do in classrooms, no aircon etc. Of coz with consumer stuff even if we are talking about IQAir, there is not much of a hope.

But with brute force (low dB SPL per m3/hr), this could be it, if you'd just open the windows and with say a 20 deg slanted opening with the help of 1 x 20000 btu/hr portable aircon (Honeywell got such a model). Temperatures should be bearable.

PAP PCF Sparkletots.

Actually, one NUS professor developed this, for use in Pekanbaru schools or something. Low cost and still quite effective (CADR).
Why not adapt this and not re-invent the wheel + spend heckloads of money?

NAP611/620? Those flow a decent amount of air on Turbo, but you'd be nuts trying to conduct a lesson in that noise...

Yup. saw the 620 in the recently concluded PTM.

But that was in the school hall ... how many units were in there? I dont know, as I only saw 1 at the corner where we had the discussion. :o

ok.. just did my calculations to factor in shipping, GST + 3-pin power cable for the xiaomi AP...
version 1, 256 sgd all-in,
version 2, 210 sgd all-in

a friend sent NTUC message via facebook and they're gonna to carry the filters at 39.90 each. hopefully it's the kilat green filter instead of what seems the anemic blue filters... all prices subject to changes by the taobao seller of the xiaomi APs...

anyway, a quick opinion about the xiaomi APs since i have v1 and v2

v1
- generally louder at the higher speeds.
- off / night / auto / speed 1,2,3, turbo
- needs wifi to unlock the speed controls, if not you're stuck with Night / Auto / Turbo
- included GREEN filter has thicker pleats + thicker activate carbon layer (169 RMB RRP)
- i personally like the "lowering" platform to change the filter
- larger physical volume should make this a workhorse for the living hall
- no humidity/temperature reading (won't die without the info)

v2
- generally lower noise at higher speeds
- off / night / auto / speed all lumped into "favourite" - can be a PITA to adjust EVERYTIME
- needs wifi to unlock the speed controls, if not you're stuck with Night / Auto / Favourite
- included BLUE filter has thicker pleats + thicker activate carbon layer (129 RMB RRP)
- i personally do NOT like the sprung platform to change the filter
- smaller physical volume is nicer to fit into bedrooms
- nice addition of humidity/temperature reading (but it's not relevant to the main purpose)

not sure which filter version (129RMB or 169RMB RRP) NTUC will be selling. personally i have 6 green spare filters for a total of 4 xiaomi APs, all still shrinkwrapped. earlier filter packages have even the cardboard box shrinkwrapped, along with the filter also shrinkwrapped - newer stock does not shrinkwrap the cardboard box.

whatever you do, do NOT set your app to "Singapore" store - leave it to mainland china. the time i did an update and "keh kiang" changed to SG... all my Xiaoyi camera also disappeared from my controls. XM2 also disappeared - i guess the logic is that the official Xiaomi SG office is only listing out the stuff they are officially selling...

The blue filters have activated carbon, don't know smelly or not.

I think green filters are without that's why cheaper.

I saw on taobao, they also sell just the activated carbon.
Not sure what's the lifespan of it.

If the normal filter can be used for say 6 month, can i just buy a filter and reuse the activated carbon?

hmm, i beg to differ. the XM green filters, you can take out the AC layer and even use it as a musical shaker... got good sound, the blue filter, i haven't taken it out to play with, but it looks really really thin

Blue:

blue ones are 129 RMB RRP. green are 169 RMB RRP

Thank you for the helpful comparison. Already have a Honeywell, AX40 & Sharp FP-FM40E but itchy to get the XM for its remote functionality :s7: but just cannot decide between v1 or v2 even after going through 60 pages...

Looks like the retail price at NTUC for v1 @ $279 (or thereabouts) is quite reasonable as it has 1 year of warranty?
