Try this https://www.horme.com.sg/product.aspx?id=4065

3.5L ETHANOL @ $11.25

I prefer don't use the denatured alcohol because it is poisonous.

DIY: Just mix 50ml ETHANOL with 50ml clean water can alr.

It's not poisonous if you are not drinking it and used properly man. It's supposed to be poisonous that way, coz that's the way it's supposed to be.

BTW that can't be 95% purity ethanol also they definitely mislabeled it. Absolutely no way...

If it's ethanol and sold this way, then it's liable to have duty tax to be paid, won't be so cheap for 3.5L.

It is most prob denatured alcohol as well, methylated spirit basically. Horme put the word spirit behind it...... (though the canister does not have the word spirit, it's prob methylated spirit)
TIGER ETHANOL 95% / SPIRIT

Good price though, horme has a $8 delivery charge for below $100 orders. Even at 19.25 for 3.5L, it's still cheaper than the Sin Chong one ($19.25 gets you 2.5 litres worth at Sin Chong)

Bros, seeking your advice and opinion here.

I'm looking at purchasing my first AP and I REALLY like the Xiaomi AP Gen 2/Pro.

But being an avid "e-researcher" myself, to ensure paying for what actually works, I've come across blogs where users of APs have tested effectiveness of Xiaomi's AP using a dedicated PM meter, as a product's built-in meter may be biased, as was reported before with the Gen 1 AP.

And the results don't seem to be favorable for the Gen 2.

Any users here tested before?

Didnt technically test. Not a technical guy. But can share some personal opinions/experience since I had all 3.

Gen1.
Plus: More powerful than Gen2. Able to blast all the way without auto trigger back to auto mode.
Minus: 75Watts. Highest among the 3. Loudest also. Only 3 fan manual mode. Low, Mid, High... of course also got Jet mode (u won't want to use this mode)

In reality, probably will only use mid or maybe hi fan speed during hazy period. Jet mode is super noisy - u probably have a feeling that will it give way? lol

Gen2
Plus: Lowest power consumption. 31watts? Can't remember the exact figure. Slightly quieter than Gen1.
Minus: Unable to blast all the way. Mine auto trigger back to auto mode after some time. Not sure if latest firmware or software update resolve this issue or not? Unable to test as already sold my Gen2.

Pro
Plus: Get the best of Gen1 & Gen2. Powerful yet relatively quiet (comparatively). 66 Watts. Mobile interface same as Gen2. Able to slide fan speeds. Tried fan speed of 23-40m2 coverage. Able to stay at such speed throughout without auto trigger back to auto mode. Cleans fast yesterday "haze". PM2.5 reading on machine. No need go Mi app n see.
Minus: Most expensive. Comes with only the original blue filter. Same as Gen2. Gen1 comes with the enhanced green filter.

* Gen1 the top able to open & take the fan blades to clean. Gen2 & Pro can't.

Can be subjective.

Hmm... That's what every reviewer mentions but I'm worried that the built in sensor is rigged/bias, as what happened in the Gen 1.

Coz there was a report where a user of Gen 1 actually wrapped the whole filter in plastic and yet the PM meter shows a significant drop in reading after turning it on for 30mins or so?

And then there was a report by a Gen 2 user whom actually utilized a separate dedicated PM meter and it shows that the Gen 2 was the worse amongst other models compared.

That's what I worry...

I have separate standalone PM2.5 devices. B4 as well as the 米家PM2.5检测仪. Maybe can say 米家 also "same same".... but B4 is different company from XiaoMi/Mijia... Both shows drop in the PM2.5 readings... readings doesn't defer much. If u put B4 on top of the purifiers while operating, it can show zero (not Gen1 because of the side opening, but still shows single digit close to zero). So I'm not that concern about those reports. Below is a pic I just took for my B4 above my Pro. This is to show the air comes out is "clean". The filter works.

If u ask me to choose between Gen1&2, I rather go for Gen1 than Gen2. Cos I prefer more "powerful" ones. And proven can blast all the way. Will not auto trigger back to slow auto mode. (At least for my case... maybe new firmware or other Gen2 also won't trigger back. This I dunno). Just personal opinion.

If budget not a key concern, I will always choose Pro over the other two. This one really cleans your indoor area fast. Saw Qoo10 got sellers selling around $3xx. Think that's the cheapest u could find at Qoo10, unless prefer to order from Taobao directly.

For Gen1, recently Qoo10 got promo@$129. But think now no more such special promo. Assuming say prefer "local" sets with warranty, then Fairprice online currently got offer @$249.

Gen2@Qoo10 around $18x? Not sure.

i tested the same on the outlet of gen2 before. also same result. zero. pic is lying around somewhere in the thread.

what matters is also how well it cleans a room, and how it maintain its CADR, whether efficient not.

gen1 of cos also clean faster. but some people may not be able to sleep using gen1 in bedroom.

Laser particle counter accuracy between components' brand?

Hi fellows, anybody heard of this brand (of laser particle counter) called "Temtop", & how it fare against the usual "攀藤G-series" (G3/G5/G7)?

I saw the feedback on TaoBao that it's supposedly very good:

That's the cheapest one could find. But no review. So not sure how is it. Check with seller any sg safety mark cable provided if opt for this one.

The next lowest is from a local seller. Ready stock.
http://list.qoo10.sg/item/XIAOMI-LI...URIFIER-2-USE-APP-CHECK-AIR-QUALITY/422184869

But more expensive. $388 after deducting $10 shop coupon (before stacking with cart coupon, using if have 1000 Qpoints-$10, 3% GC). Shipping fee is ex if not self pick. It would be good if have the recent $50 cart coupon to offset further. Now only got the $10 and $6 coupon to grab. $20 member cart coupon is the next best to use. May want to consider to wait for better cart coupons? Not sure when also.

Can also try Qoo10 search function and type XiaoMi Air Purifier Pro... next lowest should be Sinoteck $410, shipped from china.

The rest $489, $499 etc :s22: ...

There is new features for Mi Home app for Gen 1.
Finally it now works on phone.

Now you can monitor your PSI while your device is off. If the PSI surge, the device will on itself. Timer mode also added

Good to hear it's finally working for u. U mean the automation feature? Is been there quite awhile already. Ya. Is quite nice. There's also schedule for power on/off mode.

If have the 米家PM2.5检测仪 also can use it to link with any/all of the XiaoMi purifiers and auto switch them on / toggle to higher fan speed if PM2.5 readings reaches above certain range. Too bad not waterproof by itself, else I'll just put it outside and leave it there to monitor.

Simply love their automation feature. Tried it and works during that "hazy" day.

I'm just being lazy.... :D

Edit: btw, China region interface used to be different from Sg region interface. China got these additional button. Now not sure if Sg and China interface same or still different. Below is screenshot of my Mi app interface homepage (China region). :)

Currently Xiaomi Air Purifier Gen 1 is on offer, S$115 / S$129, I am tired of AX40 due to the need to clean the pre-filter which collects alot of lint that I find a hassle to clean.

My question, if any experts here can enlighten me:

1. Is there any pre-filter I need to clean on XM1 or XM2?

2. Can XM1 and XM2 stay on high mode 24/7? I read that XM2 will auto revert back to "auto" after certain time, but not XM1.

Why is XM2 favoured over XM1? My main concern is XM2 cannot stay on high mode for 24/7 (like my AX40).

Thanks!
