and the humming of the transformer

no lah, my powerbright 500W bought for usd24 around same time as u. where got sgd100?

Gotta add the efficiency loss of the tranny. Not say a lot lah, maybe 20% loss. Factor all in for the total electrical cost.

I recalculated it, i made a wee bit of mistake.
Actually for the Sharp A50, it consumes 18W and 120W for the 50250, both in medium.

Now, wrt sound pressure levels : Sharp A50E CADR is prob ard low 200 and 50250 is 250 for both in high speed, power draw is 42 watts vs 170 watts and SPL 47dBA and 57dBA respectively | Medium is 45dBa and 41dBa respectively). Airflow for medium in A50 is abotu 130CFM.

Add 20% transformer loss and take 12hr operation daily. Worst case scenario it's around $168 difference per year operating in medium speed for electricity. I could have made some errors in that too, but don't think it'd be less than $100 per yr.

Additional info.....ST quoted healthy ministry saying that N95 (ard hepa 11) is 95% @ 0.3 microns. But at 0.75 microns it goes up to 99.5%.

0.3 microns is really the worst performance size (MPPS)

I checked out the Novitas. The NAP101i has pretty ok specs for the $199 price. Good airflow (CADR 101), purchase with purchase filter price @ $29 and you can stock up additional filters as well just in case Novita disappears. Guess have to wait for mid-april. Probably getting 1 for additional/intermittent use at my mum's place coz currently using the cheap usd4.95 3M Filterete purchased from Amazon.

Since 0.75 microns particles are larger, it makes sense that N95 and HEPA are more efficient at filtering them.
The sizes we are more concerned with in the haze are the PM2.5, which are small enough to get into the lungs, but large enough that they can get lodged inside and not easily expelled.
To the N95 and HEPA grade filters, 2.5 microns are fairly large and should be almost entirely captured by the filter.

Yeps, agree....absoltuely no issue and would be extremely close to 100%.

0.3 microns is normally used as a benchmark (even though your air purifier may capture particles smaller than that) because it is the most difficult particle size to capture and retain. Although it is counter intuitive, it is actually easier to capture particles smaller than 0.3 microns.

I am wondering what is smallest size threshold that HEPA/ULPA can capture?

Hi WRX

Would you have compared NAP 101i against NAP 501? 501 worth the buy?
