Smoke out since 1600h just now. Fairly bad @ 1800h. 2-3km visibility.

My PM2.5 monitor (senses down to 0.8 microns) also showing elevated readings.

The wind has been blowing SE/SSE the whole day long.

How come there is haze, somemore fairly bad? (shd only get that when it turns SW and blows part of it to us).

Need to check the satellite photos later.

For those interested, there is this thing called Fire Danger Rating System/FDRS by ASEAN Haze Action Online.

Look through all the diagrams. Currently it's near impossible to put out the fires esp for Southern Sumatra.

Check the FFMC or Fine Fuel Moisture Code.

But theorectically there should not be any Severe dense haze, check the DC or Drought Code.

Switch off the plasma function. It comes under quite a number of names.

Will know in time to come if the haze is coming from Kalimantan as well, mixed with some Sumatra.
That's a damn huge patch of light haze.

The wind is still SE now. In fact, quite a few hours today actually were ESE, ie def not from Sumatra direction. The haze from Sumatra should not be affecting us at such levels.

IF this is true, high chance that the haze will persist for quite a few days.
Kalimantan is way worse than Sumatra.


Kalimantan wind dir is EAST, directly towards Singapore. And with it being 700+km to 1400km away, there is more than enough space to spread out over an extremely large area.

Just that the intensity won't be high (barring 1997's PSI 226 haze, which was from Kalimantan also)

It's HEPA10, but it'd work for HDB bedrooms even at PM0.1 (haze particle size, some haze are below this size actually as tested by China before), absolutely no issue at all.

Keep your room windows and door SHUT, for current conditions it's best to keep it 24/7. It's 48W consumption, not ex for electricity......

Wind is still SE @ 18kph for Singapore. Palembang and Jambi all also SE. Past few days also didn't have S winds.
Turn to S or SW we all really will get it, it will be way worse.

Cheaper ones would be taobao HEPA filters (about SGD10) + SGD16.90 morries fan @ Japan Home liao. They will also work decently.

However they won't reach you in time for protecting you and your kids against the haze.

That said, tonight i gotta pick up 2pcs of the SGD16.90 morries fan myself.
