I'm running a test involving 3M filtrete on my aircon with 100% coverage.

Start PM2.5 concentration, 35 ug/m3. Actually ard the same as NEA reported for South 1900-2000hr = 33 ug/m3.
(1800-1900h = 32 ug/m3)

Aircon unit is Panasonic non-inverter, with e-ion function. I switched on the e-ion function to see if it charges the 3M (most aircons shd have such a function).

1. Aircon blower set to Turbo mode for max airflow.
2. Auto-swing is ON, for good mixing of air in the room.
3. Duration 0 mins, 10 mins, 20 mins.

I just did a DIY cleaning last weekend for this FCU. So airflow is as good as new (I DIY clean my FCUs every 2 months with aircon cleaning foam and 90 PSI water from my Panasonic oral irrigator/water flosser).

3M Filtrete is sourced from Amazon during end 2013 (after PSI 401 haze)

Above with 3M filtrete, 20 mins run. 35 ug/m3 -> 4ug/m3

I ran without filtrate, aircon full blast + e-ion (it's likely that the airconditioning also wets the metal fins due to condensation hence contributing to the cleaning action, there's quite a fair bit of surface area). Anyway, this is also to demonstrate how an aircon FCU in a best case scenario would be able to clear the air/.

30 mins run (10 mins longer than the Filtrete)

31 ug/m3 -> 21 ug/m3 after 30 mins.

And the 3M Filtrete is probably not even close to F9. Let alone H10, H11, H12, H13. :D

Airflow is extremely important in determining the CADR, more so than the grade of the different HEAP efficiencies (eg H11 95% and H12 99.5% does not make much of a difference). The FCU in Turbo + 3M Filtrete is blowing out pretty strong airflow.

Actually the cheapest laser particle counter one is this one, the same sensor module that i have now. It's pretty sensitive, accuracy is good enough for home use.

RMB268

Hi WussRedXLi,

First of all, I think you are really nice in sharing so much on air purifiers etc. Thanks as always.

Ok, I really would like to get a reasonably good particle counter for home use so that I know when to on the purifier or not. However, I totally cannot read Chinese. I'm just wondering if you or anyone would like to buy a counter and could help me buy one too. I'll pay you according.

Thanks in advance.
:)

Casper, that Samoair is using a sensor called the Plantower G1. That is good enough. I tot you said you have that, now you want another one izzit?

I can help you buy now if you want as it does not require customisation like the HEPAs.

Feel free to PM me.

Honestly that SamoAir is pretty good value. The cheapest Plantower G1 module alone already RMB155. And G1 has got more particle size classification than the later G3.
