There is a lab that tested with results 323 m3/hr, but I lost the link.

Anyway, here's a direct test against the Healthpro 250.

And these are tested at a Guanzgzhou test agency. Note the Healthpro 250.

Ok, I will put it in a more obvious and layman way.

The Saumsung AX40 flows about 75% of the airflow of an IQ Air Healthpro 250. AX40 is 3/4 of the IQ Air 250. But the difference in figures may look somewhat big on paper, 400+ m3/hr vs 300 m3/hr.

The Samsung cleans the air to a certain threshold in 35 mins, while the IQ Air in 28 minutes. That's 1000 ug/m3 -> 1 ug/m3. Room size 30 cubic metre, or 10.5 sqm HDB room.
Our highest spike was 341 ug/m3 on Monday 6pm, it's pretty unlikely that we will ever get that again (not impossible of coz).

So don't worry about it. If you compare 2 x air purifiers that have a difference of half the airflow (323 m3/hr vs 168 m3/hr of a A28 which is quite nosiy), then yeah....there might be a concern.

How low must the PSI level be before we can resume to sleeping with windows open?

Below 24h PSI 65 or 78, corresponding to 24hr 25 ug/m3 and 35 ug/m3 respectively. I would recommend 24hr PSI 65 esp for those at risk.

And no, those are not low numbers.

I think it is not an issue with AX40.. I can use a timer socket right? Won't hurt the machine, right?

:)

Not a problem, such things are quite cheap nowadays.

In fact, if you use a timer socket, the LGs would power up automatically and resume to previous fan speed before it was powered down.

The samsung ax40 wont do that.

Having said that.. I think the sensible thing to do these days is just to let the machine run whole night ba.. Doesn't make much sense to just on it for a few hours..

LG is going for ard $315 locally, Samsung abt $400. But on Qo10, both are the same price. what gives?

Are the HEPA filter the same type?

I think normal retail here the LG is ard 350 to 399. Probably just a pricing thing as LG is not as popular locally.

Oh btw the LG is a bit bigger than thr samsung.

What's your take on Delonghi Air Purifer AC150? Sold by Parisilk on Qoo10. Price is good.

Sorry not really answering this query.. but i am just seeing if i got the math correct.. going by the 160m3/hr airflow rated, is the CADR for the Delonghi AC 150 around 91?

Thanks to anyone pointing out my mistake. :)

I guess some wants to limit it to 8hrs automatically, just in case one forgets to shut down

I use my Midea KJ30FE with 1hr timer working together with a LG in the living room. To blast the air first....but its a nosiy unit so the 1hr comes in handy, so that i dont have to remember.

Thanks for the reply. I intend to turn it on for 24hrs beside for the haze issue. Don't think I will be closing all the windows. Need to have some fresh air from outside.

it is like a pic i saw some time back. a lady with a vacuum at her corridor to suck the haze.

Saturday morning... Ard 7.45am....also saw a couple with infant and pram pushing. South side 1hr 131ug/m3. 1hr PSI 180/AQI 190.

It's damn scary. Coz gahment said 24hr PSI 300 then N95.
We never hit above PSI 300 24hr-mean in 2013 even.

I am totally perplexed.

While I am not trying to sound paranoid, it is obvious at times you can smell burn in the air.. Why parents are bringing out kids un-masked and pple still jogging is sometimes beyond me.. Even if there is no burnt smell, i think the 1-hr PM2.5 is a good enough indication of potential hazard..

:(
the reporting of psi 300 den wear n95 really got me laughing.

its always amazing to see people running in the haze. maybe should thank them for filtering more particles with their nose while running? :s22:
