I'm not expert in purifiers. I don't think is not effective. You could read WussRedXLi comment about it.is 3M filter HEPA? Sorry, just saw bro Wuss next post stating its electrostatic.
So means 3M filtrete is not effective?
There is a lab that tested with results 323 m3/hr, but I lost the link.
Anyway, here's a direct test against the Healthpro 250.

And these are tested at a Guanzgzhou test agency. Note the Healthpro 250.

How low must the PSI level be before we can resume to sleeping with windows open?
The LG LA-Q379 and PS-R459 have a timer function. Not the AX40

I think it is not an issue with AX40.. I can use a timer socket right? Won't hurt the machine, right?

Not a problem, such things are quite cheap nowadays.
In fact, if you use a timer socket, the LGs would power up automatically and resume to previous fan speed before it was powered down.
The samsung ax40 wont do that.
LG is going for ard $315 locally, Samsung abt $400. But on Qo10, both are the same price. what gives?
Are the HEPA filter the same type?
What's your take on Delonghi Air Purifer AC150? Sold by Parisilk on Qoo10. Price is good.
Having said that.. I think the sensible thing to do these days is just to let the machine run whole night ba.. Doesn't make much sense to just on it for a few hours..
Thanks for the reply. I intend to turn it on for 24hrs beside for the haze issue. Don't think I will be closing all the windows. Need to have some fresh air from outside.

Saturday morning... Ard 7.45am....also saw a couple with infant and pram pushing. South side 1hr 131ug/m3. 1hr PSI 180/AQI 190.
It's damn scary. Coz gahment said 24hr PSI 300 then N95.
We never hit above PSI 300 24hr-mean in 2013 even.
the reporting of psi 300 den wear n95 really got me laughing.I am totally perplexed.
While I am not trying to sound paranoid, it is obvious at times you can smell burn in the air.. Why parents are bringing out kids un-masked and pple still jogging is sometimes beyond me.. Even if there is no burnt smell, i think the 1-hr PM2.5 is a good enough indication of potential hazard..
