Anyone ordered from Goni @ Rakuten and haven't received their APs?

Placed my order on 29 Sep and today still "Awaiting Shipment". Spoke with Fedex and was told only shipping label created but Goni hasn't passed AP to Fedex. Sent 1 email last week to Goni and was told they'd ship out by end of last week. Sent another email yesterday and no reply.

Annoyance level is high .

As I posted earlier, GONI received overwhelming orders from SG in the last week of Sept and they will likely send out next week. They didnt reply my mails but I got a Korean friend to call and verify. Suck thumb and wait.

Wonderful thread. My first set of AX40 arrived in the office on Monday. Love it. More silent than any of the other APs I have. About the same noise level as Sharp Y30 and Sharp Z31 even though it has large air flow volume than the Sharps.

Here's my contribution for everyone. Amateur translation of usage information guide that came with the AP. the Hope the translation is accurate. I am still not very good at Korean yet. Will try to translate the user manual.

I have learnt alot and managed to apply what I learnt to help my little ones and family who have ezema and allergic.

I used my AX 40 for only a few days and its not working. Al the lights on the control panel are blinking. Yes! Every single light i tried looking at the manual but it doesn't mention anything abt all it.

Can any bros help? Really appreciate it. Thanks!

Tried unplugging and replugging to the power outlet? When you turn on the power at the mains the first time it's (re)plugged in, you should hear a Do-Re-Mi-Fa-Soh tone. Then turn on the AP. Does it function normally?

I did. Sent email yesterday. So far no reply. Will send another one later. Disappointed in the level of service. Maybe it's OOS, if so should let customer know.

ya rest of the time i run it on auto. if i remember, i will turn to low below going to bed.

i was going to consider buy 1 xiaomi to play play. can use jetmode in living room but like someone pointed out, the small holes below dunno will get dust stuck there not, how to clean that area also another problem.

so those who bought a xiaomi pls help to review on that after a long period of usage.

(i was already looking at balmuda due to the concept of 360 filter and upwards air suction but xiaomi decided to copy n sell cheaper. )

Short review:

I have the Xiaomi and Balmuda. Here's the thing about the way they work: they have two fans. The lower fan pulls air through the filter. The upper fan sucks up this clean air and mixes it with ambient (dirty) air. So you end up getting a mix of maybe 60% clean air, 40% dirty air coming out the top. That's why they can claim such huge airflow numbers with relatively small fans.

In the Balmuda manual, they provide overall airflow rates (630m^3/hr!!!) and clean air delivery rates (396m^3/hr). This is in Jet mode, which can ONLY be used for 20 mins max at a time. The highest "normal" setting gives you 288m^3/hr of clean air, which is actually lower than most full-sized air purifiers, including the AX40. This is still loud (small fans, spin faster, more noise). On the medium setting you get about 192m^3/hr.

Re: dust. You don't have to worry about dust getting stuck in the small holes, because there's no mesh filter there. The holes are actually quite big and you can just vacuum or even wipe that area. BUT the top fan will get dusty, because it's pulling in a mix of dirty and clean air. So this fan is removable and you must wash it occasionally (like normal fans).

Comparing the Xiaomi and Balmuda, I would say definitely go for the Xiaomi, not only because of the connectivity, but also because you know what you're getting. Xiaomi is pretty transparent - H11 Toray HEPA and coconut carbon filters, Nidec fans, etc. Balmuda just has very vague specs, including a "360HEPA" enzyme filter (360HEPA is not a real standard), etc.

Build quality wise, they are both 100% made in China of cheap and cheerful plastic. I would venture that the Xiaomi is actually a tiny bit better re: fit and finish, but the Balmuda is typically Japanese with attention to detail, e.g. the filter is backed with rubber not hard plastic, there's a groove for the power cable to run, etc. Also, Xiaomi filters are about $50, Balmuda filters are around $200...

AX40 only has 2 speed modes.

Please dont mis-inform people.

Xiaomi has 5, Jet and High is loud, medium is usable for bedrooms.

AX40 at low does not provide enough ACH I believe.

Needs wifi to control speed toggle button only available for 3 modes, jet, auto and sleep.
High power consumption relative Sharp/Samsung. (42W vs 75W max rated power)
A bit difficult to set up due to very basic instructions provided.
For comparison I just measured my vacuum cleaner: Bosch 2000W GL-30
