Using the Sharp KC-50 and Samsung A40 for 3 weeks.. 2 aircon fan coils were running 8 hrs every night before purifiers was here. In early may, 2 purifiers was turn on 8 hrs in two rooms.
Notice my electricity usage increased more than $50 in the recent billing. Shocking.

I calculate more accurate for ya....

A50 is 42W in high (don't think you'd gun in high for 8hrs).
But lets just take it to be high, 42W/1000 * 8hrs * $0.2537 * 1.07GST = $0.09121 per day or $2.736 per month.

A40 is 25W in high (don't think you'd gun in high for 8hrs)
But lets say we just take it to be high, 25W/1000 * 8hrs * 0.2537 * 1.07GST= $0.05429 per day or $1.629 per month.

Works out to be $4.36 per month or less than 1 Mcdonald's value meal.

If you gun 24/7, it'd be $13 per month.

my samsung arrived liao.. need use my overseas adapter because its 2-pin abit big.. not very noisy..

one question.. the slp mode got simi use except quiet n light dim.. no timer mode

no warranty card inside.. btw, wats the model no. of the original filter ah?

Sleep mode not much use. I leave it on high most of the time coz it's relatively quiet.

The filter does not seem to have any model number, just says Integrated HEPA deodorizing filter. Just have to select the correct filter for your purifier.

Can try this Vornado MD1 True HEPA replacement filter. $24.54.
From what I measured on the screen, it seems that the depth is more than 1 inch.
(though the given measurements says 1 inch...may or may not be correct)

Same size as the Fellowes HF-230 (which is now 29.99)..

So this would be suitable for the Samsung AX40, just trim the top.
For Novita NAP501, have to trim both the sides and top.

After you browse some pages behind in this thread, those air purifier with humidifier, their filters after sometime became mouldy and maybe spraying moulds instead of clean air~

Not much diff from people who suggest using humidifier in Aircon

Or adding layers of filters in Aircon

btw i noticed that the humidifying filter tend to grow mold like this pic but a simple wash and not using humidifying function for a few days does the job

i noticed that pic i grabbed from this jap blog actually mentioned Tar upon google translate....guess filtering ciggy smoke.

Mine look yellowish white, i suspect its mineral build up rather than mould but i had been using bottled distilled water initially. Now use tap water and no more similar observation....wonder whats going on....

Nowadays rinse the humidifying filter as well when i vacuum the hepa and charcoal filter and no problem since.

personally didnt notice any spike in electric bill

I use those switch timer to get my purifier to stop filtering at certain time in the morning b4 wakey

observed some similarities but area not as big...only small area in the middle and not as brownish...guess its lack of maintenance for this user

Toilet area also have such bacteria what. It's mentioned in the manual that one should take out the wick and clean every few months.

My sis' Novita humidifier, the ultrasonic humidification type, also would grow some slimey goo if you don't scrub the insides and ultrasonic chamber and ultrasonic transducer.

Now, this type of humidifiers like 50X quicker than the natural evapaoration type used in air purifiers.

Just take out the humidification wick and use some Magic clean mould and stain remover to clean the mould ba. The vinegar would smell a bit if you add it into the humdifier's reservoir. The activated carbon won't work, it's like walk front 2 steps and then walk back 2 steps.

Adding the 3M Filtrete to aircon is actually not a suggestion. That's the formal recommended usage by 3M.

Issues arising from this like aircon FCU evaporator coil freezing up or extra condensation forming and leakages is due to user error due to servicing neglect , not due to people's suggestion. Aircons are supposed to be serviced either by pros every 3-4 months, but some do that in years instead of months, even with frequent usage.

I mean, we have been using this from last year to this year, no issue at all.

You can even see an air-con FCU being printed on the box. They can't be Risking a lawsuit....

talking abt vinegar....i tried this for cleaning my kitchen...mineral build up at sink area etc....very effective but smell can be overwhelming

Washable HEPA sounds dubious...
plus they put replace cycle of 12 months...
If need to change every year, what's the point of being washable (once every 3 mths) ?

u only can wash the prefilter
cannot wash hepa filter...
