Shipping within China is usually free, just need to pay a forwarder for the service. 4PX is one of the recommended forwarder for Taobao. They charged 35RMB for the 1st KG, followed by a certain sum for every additional 500g. All in, i paid about S$40 to ship the air purifier (7.X kg) via 4PX.

Not much reason to doubt the 'tested' airflow judging by its performance.

Yes, in terms of loudness, Samsung AX40 at max sounds like the Chaolu at medium. Its not just about the loudness, its also about refinement. The AX40 is smooth and consistent sounding. Compartively, the Chaolu's sounds harsher and less refined.

To be fair, we shouldnt even be comparing these 2 air purifiers. They are different classes with a significant price difference between them. On its own, the Chaolu is quite a decent machine at under $200 price point.

Sounds like it's really doing ~ 250m3/hr as described in the seller's page as being "tested" by a testing body.

So I guess the loudness on medium speed for this unit = high speed on the Samsung AX40?

PS. It won't break down for several years if you relegate for haze emergency use only. All in all, the purchase seems quite good. :D

Yes, looks like the same seller.

No, i've been using 4PX only. They are quite consistent. Typically, i receive my products 6 days later from the date of purchase.

U'll have to do your own math then.

If u buy the AX41 in Singapore, i believe Best Denki sells for $487. It comes with a 1 year local warranty (if i'm not wrong).

Buy from Qoo10.sg, it comes with a 1 year warranty in Korea. If you are so unfortunate to receive a unit that is not working upon arrival (DOA), then the seller will pay for the return shipping and he will ship another unit to u. However, if your unit breaks down during the warranty period, the seller will send your unit back to Samsung Korea for repairs BUT you will have to pay for shipping to and back from Korea.

U'll have to do your own calculations. What are the chances of the set breaking down during the warranty period? Are u prepared to take this chance? For myself, i have been buying products without local warranty for MANY years. I have 2 LG Robokings at home and one of them is already 2.5 years old and still in the pink of health. Bought it at a little less than half the price that the local retailers are selling.

Heh heh, coz i'm always interested in the max value for money.

If got space to keep, it really is a good gadget to keep for days with bad air quality (eg > PSI 70). Daily use, i guess better spend on a AX40 or something.

Indeed if one can afford to pay more, the AX40 is the ideal choice!

I'm no pro in this field, so i cant comment if a 4 blade fan is sufficient. As far as i'm concerned, its more than enough for the task of purifying the air even in a large bedroom. ;)

Remember, it only retails for 299 RMB with free shipping within China. Thats like S$60. U can't even buy a decent branded stand fan delivered to your home for this price. :s8:

4 blade fan got enough static pressure for this?

Was expecting a cage fan or something

Everybody buying large purifier, but I wanted a small one for my cat room. What does anybody think of this Amazon.com - Honeywell Compact Air Purifier with Permanent HEPA Filter, HHT-011 -, its cheap but wattage I understand running on low is 24W, high 48W? But from the Q&A, it may not work in Sg, 240V/60Hz. But would getting a 500W stepdown transformer help? overkill for this model?

Please help, I'm new to buying electrical appliances from US or anywhere else.

Maybe not optimal, but I guess it this case it does....or maybe the blades got a different angle/design compared to the blades on a regular floor or table fan.

Air purifiers don't really work well for cat fur, that's for sure. You would still find fur on the floor. As for smell, well it helps a bit only coz you must be treating the litter box first (eg activated charcoal pellets, lots of it, changed weekly).

And in your case, the small purifier won't work. You'd need a really large purifier.

And your cat has got long fur? Thus needing air conditioning most of the time? You'd need to operate the unit with the windows/doors closed.

My layman 2 cents of thought. Typical fan simply sucks air in from the back and blows it out in the front. The surface area is large, so u can hardly generate much air pressure with such a setup. On the other hand, for the Chaolu air purifier, the air generated is focused into a duct design than channels the air to the vent on top, possibly generating a higher air pressure in the process.

haha..no lah, not for cat fur, don't know of purifier that can trap fur except aircon. When there are cats around, the air quality is usually not all that good bcos of the pet dander, especially the cat room. Don't know if having air purifier will help to at least reduce pet dander in the room, at least psychologically I feel better bah.

I was at Homefix earlier, saw PowerPac transformer, 80W, wonder if it is good enough. But look like nobody buy tabletop purifier ah? I was actually eyeing at Europace, the one that cost $299 selling at Fairprice Xtra EPU 166C (G) Air Purifier, but don't know if good, and moreover quite expensive, but I like the low wattage, energy efficient.

I guess pet dander and stuff like mites faeces (usually they are allergens as well) do not really fly and stay in the air, those are more for smoke/haze. Even pollen stay in the air as they are lighter than dander.

So in your case, an air purifier does not help much. If you google about asthma and air purifiers, you'd get the same answer, if the allergen that is causing asthma is by dust mites' faeces, the purifier would not help much coz it'd settle very near to the bed, only to be spread around by say wind from the table fan or air conditioner.

But the activated charcoal in the purifier would help a bit with the smell.
