Hey Bro, went through most of the pages seems like the model LG LA-Q379SB is quite good.
Can ask you any difference between the 378 and the 379?
For the DIY of the filter i saw the link you share for Taobao, so i just follow the dimensions you share and quote them the model i want?
cheapest now on Q010 is $278 now ok right?
pai sey i alot questions:o

Yes, it's the LG LA-Q379SB, it's 278 right now delivered with FedEX from what i asked from the seller.

Just ALWW (IM) the seller with regards to the dimension, the guy would know as he has done for me and others before. Anyway its 360mm x 341mm x 45mm thickness. For this model and this thickness from the TB seller, i can confirm that the fan airflow speed would not drop compared to the original HEPA (actually increase 5%).

The Samsung AX40 would drop about 15% airflow speed using the same 45mm thickness HEPA from that taobao seller, vs original Samsung HEPA.

Maybe due to fan blade, motor torque vs air resistance design etc. Not sure.

Buy 4 and he can give you small discount. Its rmb140 each, not cheap (relatively speaking) but its a large filter that needs to be customised. Change every 6 months is v good even for commercial public space in SG kinda air quality, no worries.

V easy to change...1 minute job.

From what i have measured in a v small room (new BTO small bedroom) and a powerful air purifier like the Samsung AX40...the PM2.5 levels only dropped 50% with the windows closed and doors opened. (This is not the PSI or AQI level)

Not v effective at all, and you are likely to wear out the HEPA v quickly like within 3 months if it gets moderately smokey.
So is not recommended to put it in the living room without air con?

Nope.

What you can do though, is to close the living room door (kitchen door?) and windows. Switch on the 2-3 rooms aircon, or close any of the room.
Mix in 1 or 2 or 3 air purifiers. Aircon FCU put 3M Filtrete. Additional 1 or 2 fans in the living room with 3M Filtrete.

Don't worry about the electricity when "extending it to the living room", it won't be that much for that few periods of haze. Still much better than installing an aircon!

Haze periods usually occur during hot periods anyway, no point saving electricity then.

Talk about hot periods, we're doing 27/28°C nights now... :s22:

Somemore got strong El Nino risk. It is still a wee bit early to talk about it in a 100% tone but the indicators really setting up for a big finale. I will put them up in a few days time...but since last week things like Westerly Winds Bursts really maciam 1997 type. (Together with March's 4 typhoons on the 2 sides of the equator turbocharging the westerly winds then).

Is it a must to get air purifier in Singapore?

Right now Sharp FUA28E got promo at $103 include delivery from Rakuten. Just intend to get 1 normal purifier for my bedroom.
Is this model sufficient enough?

Of coz if you ask the regulars here then we'd say its a must.

True story : There are also folks with genuine needs like babies and own multiple many comforts in life like 55" TV, 300MB fibre and BMW car but put off an Air purifier despite them babies getting sick. (The pax said aircon will do).

Singapore air quality is and has been always above WHO's annual PM2.5 limit of 10ug/m3.

The A28 is sufficient for healthy pax without any chronic issues.

Qoo10 now can see the Samsung AX60 and AX70, both seems to be priced at $615.
AX60 = 711 m3/hr
AX70 = 773 m3/hr

Both are very silent for its airflow. And very energy efficient.

Those folks who cannot get a good price for the Sharp A80, can try this one.
This is more than enough for even the sickest kid or elderly who just recently came out of a major op and resting in a big Pasir Ris 5-rm(140 sqm) Master bedroom . :D

The Chinese run their tests in their standard 30 cubic metre test chamber.

5040 ug/m3 -> 120 ug/m3 in 10 mins. :eek:

Official korean specs

47W, 48dBA for the AX60. 711 m3/hr
70W, 52 dBA for the AX70 773 m3/hr

Sharp A80 is doing 480 m3/hr for 75W.

Used 12hrs daily, difference of 23W = SGD22 per year, or SGD110 5 years.
Slight dip of airflow (8%), 4dB difference which is a heck lot.

I'd say go with the AX60.

That's what I think also, not worth the noise level increase. AX70 on max would be too loud. Sekali like AX40 with no "mid" then can die... Haha... Although it's more likely that such big units would have more than 2 air flow settings.
