Just for reference, and if anybody else wondering when getting your spanking new AX40 and found that everything in the documentation is in Korean.

Buttons from left to right:
First four is touch buttons: On/off; Speed selection; VirusDoctor On/off (single touch) + filter change reset (hold a few secs); Child lock (hold a few secs)
Last four is speed indicator: Auto; High; Low; Sleep

Lights on the On/off touch button also functions as air quality indicator: blue, green, yellow, red (something like that)

VirusDoctor is Samsung's fancy name for ionizer function, default is OFF.

Just full blast all the way, can't hear a single thing

So for AX40 we can actually off the ionizer by pressing on the filter reset button? I was still searching high low for the button. How to know if the ionizer is off? For sharp, there is a specific ionizer button and when its off, the blue light goes off too. Does Samsung ax40 have something similar?

Yes, there's light right above the VirusDoctor/Reset button. Btw, default is OFF.

(Polluted) Red->Orange->Yellow->Green->Blue (Clean)

Pressing the ON/Off Switch
The air purifier turns on with a ringing sound.
-When the product turns on for the first time, it starts operating in air purification mode (airflow speed: Weak). ffIf the power [ ] is turned off and then on again, the product operates base on the last settings.
-The cleanness indicator and the selected function indicator are selected.

Pressing the Mode switch
Whenever this button is pressed, the mode changes in the following order: Weak  Sleep  Auto  Strong.
-The cleanness indicator remains the same and the selected operating mode is turned on.
-When the unit is running in Auto mode, the air is automatically kept clean by the air purifier regardless of the surrounding
dust and odors.
-If Sleep mode is selected, only the Sleep mode indicator is turned on (dimly).

If the filter clean/replacement indicator is turned on while the air purifier is operating, clean the Pre filter and press and hold the [ ] button for 3 seconds to reset the alarm.

If the filter clean/replacement indicator blinks while using the air purifier, replace the integrated HEPA/deodorization filter and hold the [ ] button for 3 seconds or longer to reset the alarm.

If the product is not going to be used for an extended period of time, put it into a box and store it in a dry,in door site.

actually, SG air has never been good even on non-hazy days for past decade or so.
esp after 2013 terrible haze.

that's in my opinion lah.

i bought an air purifier in 2008. Used it for weeks and noticed indoor air greatly improved.

have decided on those non-ioniser or independent ioniser ones because read that mostly ozone is released during ionizing.

ax40 is consider as independent ioniser ?

In the past, I always thought hiding indoors and close all windows and doors I would be fine... Seems like not the case!
Definitely not the case. Even with Windows and door closed, a small AP will be struggling to keep the particle concentration in-check to below 30 ug/m3 when the outside is above 300ug/m3 on the handheld meter (not NEA). So think about that without an AP around....

Sharp is good... why u replacing it?

Been using the Sharp for a number of years and never changed the filter. Can't seem to find the filter anywhere at the moment so decided to get the Samsung since it is also an upgrade.
