We should have seen this before ordering. This level of service is on par with the worst of the Chinese TB sellers. Now stuck in the middle of nowhere.
I'll teach you guys how to save more with the AX40.
Every year, the haze months run for about 4 months. You can use 1 x original HEPA for 8 months hazy periods, so that's 2 years lifespan per original HEPA filter.
Non hazy period of 8 months, you can use this Taobao filter. Don't have to customise (so no need to type in Chinese to converse with the seller), just trim the part that runs along the pleat. Then the top part can just roll up the plastic packaging and plug the gap. It would work, trust me, I have measured.
Same, 4 months for the filter. So 1 year use 2pc.
RMB 29.90 per piece. Just buy 6 or 8 in 1 shot ba.
This would drop the airflow by about 35% max (it's more like 30% actually, actual measurement with my anemometer). So it becomes 210 m3/hr. It would also be slightly more silent, and suck less electricity due to slower motor rotation with the added resistance (as measured current draw with a multimeter). 210m3/hr is good for 14.5m2 room with 5 ACH, shd be just nice for MBR during non hazy months.

Saw something like "Smartair" at taobao. They use air circulator or powerful fans with filters.

Even with air con and AP you must air your rooms 2-3 times per day, to replace the stale air with fresh air. Otherwise there will be C02 buildup...
New AP filter will have a smell, I guess that's what you are referring to as the machinery smell. I notice that with both of my Samsung A40...
It will go away after you run it for a few hours. As for your itchy throat, I've not experienced it so can't comment, sorry
No, you need that cheap adapter (Refer to the image a few posts back) because the plug is of slightly different size, so even with that plastic key it would not go in.
You can try to force the plug into the SG socket but I wouldn't recommend it, if you manage to force it in, the device will work because the voltages are right.

But I prefer the bulkier kind from Japan home(see the photo one bro attached quite a few times, think it's bro asakura ?) easier to take out than the flimsy think type

I was about to place another order with Goni this morning with their $300 [Free Hepa Filter Event] timesale. But after I saw their $63 thread "SAMSUNG compatibility Filter", I choose not to get from Goni. If they are selling authentic filter, they should advertise as ORIGINAL instead of COMPATIBILITY.

So far have not bought any extra filters yet. My set with extra filter from Happy Mall is on the way. I will compare the filter in the unit and the extra one in the Samsung box to see if there is any difference.
Maybe those who got extra filter from Happy Mall can comment if the 2 filters are the same quality.
