Just to like all know, I have confirm, it work. My friend just transfer to me, I can received, and it is reflected in my "Balance", I have use the amount to pay to one of the vendor personal account and it work...

But there is one thing you need to do, you need the verified your account in the "Balance" manual, you need to submit your Passport detail, picture of your passport and a selfie of yourself, once it is verified, you can received fund, those who want, please hurry, before they shut it down again, like wechat. This is hot news, not alot of people know, but after this , haha, all know liao.

Interesting to know that it actually works now. Using the balance and top up with transfer from friends is much more convenient than Tour pass. Not so sure how long this will work though.

Have tried, but cannot do the transfer, try it on my friend who have china bank card verified, not such why your work.

Yes, Tourpass cannot be use to transfer between individual, to do this you will need a friend who have a verified china account to transfer fund to you. Once you accept, the fund will show in your balance, from your balance you will be able to transfer to anyone. I have did it successfully, hope it will not stop to work like wechat. I think it should work, as we have submitted our passport for verification, so no worry on money launching.

I just talked to Customer service. the problem is the tour pass needs your account to be login using a foreign phone number. I login my current alipay account using email address.

Now, I have to create a new alipay account using my phone number. After that the App prompted me to switch the international version.

I tried to top up the tour pass and filing all the information (passport etc). However, after uploading the passport photo, the apps just stop proceeding to the next step

It should work fine, maybe the system is too busy as it have just started, too many people rush in to register, haha. I have setup for my wife too with no problem, maybe you can try on other phone with other account.

I figured out the way to use the old alipay account and still have access to tour pass.

First you need to logon to the alipay.com using browser. Look for 账户设置-基本信息-手机， click the "开启手机登录“ to enable you to login using phone number.

after that, login to your alipay app using your phone number

Supposedly you cannot top up without linking to a China bank card or going through some 3rd party services.

But try the following step and tell us whether it works or not. I will consider it as a loophole if it indeed works.

1) Setup Tour Pass
2) Ask your friends with proper Alipay account to transfer money to you.
3) If the transfer goes through and the amount goes to your normal balance and not Tour Pass prepaid account, then transfer back some money back to that friend. If that works, then congratulations you have achieved what you want. Pay the friend in SGD and get RMB from the friend.
4) If not working, sorry the loophole does not work.

As far as I know it used to work but stopped working for many people last year or this year, same as WeChat. But I know that there are conflicting reports for Alipay. So indeed some people may still have this working now.

I use Wechat pay without a China bank card and top up worked for me until June 2019. Now I can not top up either through receiving red packets or through transfer. But I have no problems to send out red packets or transfer out or paying through QR codes with my remaining balance.

Please refer to the above official guide from Alipay. You need a China bank card for Step 4.

The question is whether the Step 4 is required or not.

I still got RMB 10 not able to be used in my Alipay account (not able to transfer in yet not returned to sender) but it is linked to my China Mobile SIM. I will probably create a new Alipay account link to my Singapore SIM to try out later.

The main question now is the transaction limit of Alipay balance.

Class 1 with no ID verification: RMB1000 total whole life

Class 2 with ID verification: RMB100k per year

Class 3 with multiple ID verification: RMB200k per year.

Supposed a China bank card is required for Class 2 account type. So the method here is better than Class 1 requirements but less than Class 2 requirements.

The transfer rate for the Visa is super low, the exchange rate is 4.99, the market rate is 5.15, so ask friend to transfer is better.
