please no one buy energiser. $180 battery and after 16 months DEAD! spoke to battery shop and they said they dont sell any more because it to many problems. Spoke to Chin Send Hin and they said my fault because i only drive 5000Km a year. a battery should last 4 years. My Varta lasted 5 years. all the battery sellors here say a a battery lasts 12 months to 24 months but that is just rubbish as in USA they give 5 year warranty. Just a way to sell more. Buyer beware. can charge your flashlight but no good for battery

I think this thread should be deleted. Its your call though, not trying to be disrespectful. There are more than 50 brands of car batteries here. None of the distributors or workshops are bothered to advertise here. I really dont believe hwz is the right platform for this kind of thing.

But it is not right for anyone to come here and openly promote their services.

In any case if any vendor was here to promote, I can only infer their business must be slowing somewhat.

you hardly used your car, yet the battery lasted 16months. That is a very good battery that you have already.

To compare properly, you must detail which energizer model and which varta battery you used. Were they installed in the same car? Were they both used in singapore?

My original agm car battery is still the same one when I bought the car. More than 4 yrs already and still very good.

our weather for battery cannot last long.... heat is shorting the life span of battery unless u relocate ur batt to the boot....

Worst den my wet battery which lasted 4years!

Depends on your driving habits.
Mine can last at least 3~4 yrs

13 mths is either you got a lemon or
1. Your aircon is always turn ON.
2. Your HiFi is always turn ON.
And you always start engine with the above turned on.

Battery is heng suay, nowadays the electrical system is wired up such that the car starts first, before the aircon blower and radio kick in. Really not much difference whether you switch it off or not.

200 divided by the number of years left of your car, that's like peanuts. If it's reliable for you, no point saving few hundred bucks on the battery.

If your car breaks down and can't start, end up gotta tow or find someone jump start for you.

As long as the battery posts are in the correct position, any model can use.

Just changed mine. Amaron pro din55 for 170. 150+ 20dollar onsite fees.

Amaron batteries are made in india. Bosch batteries are made in korea. Bosch is a german company and they make the starter motor and alternator components for most big automotive companies. The positive and negative terminals of amaron batteries rust over time, unlike bosch batteries. Even the hard polyethylene casing for bosch batteries are of better quality.

Amaron pro batteries do not have a vent tube on both ends. It was not designed with mercedes, bmw, jaguar, lamborghini and european cars in mind. These cars got a vent tube which has to be left disconnected if you use amaron.

I suggest not to waste your hard earned money on amaron, globatt, motolite or even oem toyota batteries from borneo. Not that bosch never fails, just that it is either same price or $10-20 more than amaron.

I have taken apart amaron batteries and was surprised at its cheap design. I only play with brands such as fiamm, bosch, varta for cars. For lorries, incoe is excellent quality for money. For motorcycles, i swear by yuasa only, even for a bmw bike.

I see, probably this explains why amaron is bigger than Borsch for same output, cheap design.


As for the vent tube, MF battery (VRLA) don't need vent tube under normal conditions, unless as a safety feature to release excessive pressure, so cheaper designed amaron have no vent tube. This make sense. Thanks


If these gases are allowed to escape, as in a conventional flooded cell, the battery will need to have water (or electrolyte) added from time to time. In contrast, VRLA batteries retain generated gases within the battery as long as the pressure remains within safe levels. Under normal operating conditions the gases can then recombine within the battery itself, sometimes with the help of a catalyst, and no additional electrolyte is needed [3][1]. However, if the pressure exceeds safety limits, safety valves open to allow the excess gases to escape, and in doing so regulate the pressure back to safe levels (hence "valve-regulated" in "VRLA").
