A little background, Been running a mostly 2nd hand, mix and matched 2 way active setup and managed to get by all these years - and of course enjoying it.
Yes - 2nd hand technically - you CAN get by with 2-3K budget - but you'll need to know your components well and whether they suit your taste.
Choice/genre of music you listen to also plays a part.
Currently my more than > 8 years pioneer HU P80RS II is failing
, and am on the lookout for a DMH series or AVH-Z flip model.
If given a choice, i'll just stick back with a simple old HU like the one i'm using, but everyone's moved on.
Then there's the headache of processor now - is the H800 still a good choice? All the offerings from Audison/Mosconi etc. adds to the confusion. Curious how I can have a Pioneer HU paired with a H800.

Just get a cheap set of coaxial speakers settle.
