i just got a google tv chromcast. pls pay attention that it come with a hdmi and a power usb and there is no usb and no other access to the device. if u plan to use it as it is with youtube, netflix and those premium service this is a good device. However, if you intent to sideload app, it is going to be tricky.
I did successful sideload apk and installed into the device.
i download from the playstore send to tv and i send sendanywhere apk up and get installed the apk not without any problem and the system to go setting to allow installed from unknow source which i need to click the button to approve. Since there is no mouse, there is no way to click the button. What i did was in my android phone i installed a bluethooth mouse and pair it with the device making my handphone as a mouse.
thereafter i use sendanywhere to send apk into the device to get it installed.
anyone want a detail how i setup pm me

don't "teach" people to go the long way.

there are many other simpler methods.

e.g "sendfiles to tv" , "xplorer" .. from playstore and get the job done easily. without using mouse.

My advice to new users in googleTV/androidTV is not to use mouse. :)

For those who are interested in enhancing chromecast's feature, there is way to plug in SSD, thumbdrive, mouse dongle, ethernet..etc to chromecast, with a small cheap adaptor.

Is there any box that can stream 4k contents? I'm using apps to watch some dramas now but most if not all are not 4k content.

Most boxes can stream 4k contents. The problem is you don't have the right apps with the right video sources.

a few apps that can offer plenty of 4k drama - iqiyi, netflix, disney+.

If you like high quality 4k contents, I suggest buying of google certified boxes, it allows these good apps to show at 4k quality. e.g chromecast with googletv. mibox s, mecool km2.

Thanks for the prompt response! After looking thru the 3 boxes u mentioned, I'm keen on the mecool km2. But seems like there is KM2 , KM2 Plus and KM6. Which one is recommended ?

Netflix and Disney+ I think won't use. Other than iqiyi , is there any recommended apps?

Would be keen to watch Chinese drama and some English series. Currently have Netflix already.
Looking for those apps that can stream movies and series in 4k if possible.
Eg, older drama like Royal Feast I can't find in iqiyi.

if you are talking about free apps, go for kodi. what you need is a few addons.

for english, it is easy to find (ask google).

for chinese, duboku, ysdq, dramacool, icdrama are good.

if you find it is too troublesome to run kodi, install emotn store, then use shared code 202096 to install one or more apps recommended there.

evpad - expensive and unreliable. cheapo hardware selling at high price.

get a google certified box, e.g mibox s, mecool km2. price less than $80.

you need to install a few apps yourself, read my post just before yours.

svicloud decent performance. 4K performance is ok sometimes but problematic at other times. FHD no issue. sadly, i can't find a way to input titles searches using hanyu-pinyin.
