yah I check a few videos that all the RCA converter are not able to output HD quality.

just wondering there is any Android box with RCA output?

why is himedia box so expensive?

himedia is expensive because it is premium brand.

many china boxes has rca output. can be as cheap as $10-$15 per box.

rca output can set at 576/480, but its picture quality is much worse than 480p on hdmi output.

whether it is direct rca output from the box or hdmi-rca conveter, the picture quality is similarly bad.

no wonder it's so expensive.

sorry greg, I'm not sure the rca output 576/480 is entirely correct. from what I read online, rca cable is able to output higher than 1080.

my digital tv box is giving me at least hd 720 out via RCA.

the above are 2 entire different setup and condition and I can't really draw any inference from it.

guess I'll have to resign to fate and stick to the converter.

thanks Greg and the rest.

You are mixing two things

Composite video -- typically 480i or 576i.

Analog Component video -- can be 480p/720p or higher like 1080p but in reality the quality is not as good as HDMI.

Does your old TV support component video? If yes, you can buy HDMI to Component converter.

even has component video, it is expensive to set up. need to buy very good cable, else you will see running pattern on screen. it is a discarded technology.

normally the tv with component video input also come with vga. it is cheaper and better to use vga. can get 1080p easily.

Yes that is one possibility, to use HDMI to VGA. But you need those with audio output along with VGA.

For my old Wii console (still alive), I have to use Component Video since Wii does not support HDMI and is only up to 480p or 576i.

ahh.

thanks for the clarification.

sorry guys, I haven't been providing adequate info, hence you guys are unable to assist me fully.

mine is a HD TV, it's just that all the HDMI ports are fried, so have to reply on the red white yellow cable. I don't know much about the 5 color composite.

hmm HDMI to VGA, sounds great. I used have a hdmi to dvi. and yes, you need specific model to get the audio working!

thanks Greg, xiaofan, magix and yusoff for helping.

Unfortunately no such official list exists as far as I know.

For Xiaomi TV boxes, you need to be careful about the model number. Only the following three models are certified by Netflix. Do not use generic name like Mi Box 3 or Mi Box 4 which by default points to the China version without Google and without Netflix certification.

Mi Box S: MDZ-22-AB

Mi Box (Global version): MDZ-16-AB

Mi TV Stick (1080p): MDZ-24-AA

Unofficial list
https://sites.google.com/view/droid-tv/streaming-gaming

The above list is for Certified Android TV OS streaming devices (not TV) and those with Netflix logo are certified by Netflix.

The site also has list for Pay TV providers like Starhub.
https://sites.google.com/view/droid-tv/pay-tv-provider/asia-pacific

There are other device like Amazon FireTV device which run Amazon's version of Android OS which have Netflix certification as well. Then Roku devices which run the proprietary Linux based Roku OS also have Netflix certification. Apple TV 4K also has Netflix certification.

Which exact M8S Pro model?

M8S Pro and M8S Pro L: Amlogic S912 CPU with 3GB RAM

M8S Pro W: Amlogic S905W with 2GB RAM.

It will depend on the game you want to play. S912W is not too bad a CPU for casual Android games.

But to me in general it is not really worth using Android TV boxes for gaming, unless you have RK3399, S922X or better CPU (eg: Beelink GT-King, Nvidia Shield TV).
