Hi Singtel,
Do you receive my PM yesterday?

I have just recently recontract my fibre, and got the Airties units. Please advise on how I can do the ethernet backhaul. I have got AC Plus router, is it the same as AC1900? Can you do the remote update for me on your end?

Hi johnnytanhardwarezone,

The latest firmware version for the Airties WiFi Mesh is 1.21.10.2.1665.

Ethernet backhaul will work when both Airties are connected by wired and back to AC1900 router. This feature is supported in the latest firmware version.

This Singtel account in HWZ is geniune, as the HWZ editor has assured forum members in this post.

Do let us know the most convenient way to update your WiFi Mesh unit. You can choose either of the options:

(a) remote update on our end (you must be using the AC1900 router for this to work)
(b) sending you a download link to manually update

If you choose option (a), kindly drop us a private message with your Singnet ID so that we can push the firmware remotely.

Thanks.

Would like to ask if I am using WiFi at home only, will there be a difference in speed between signing up a 300m plan or a 1gbps plan,if I'm planning to get a WiFi mesh too?

Appreciate any replies! Thanks!

Depends on your wireless clients also. If ur devices are capable of breaking through 300mbos,then likely worthwhile to upgrade.

WiFi mesh doesn't interfere with speed but more of a coverage performance..

Hi All,

Asus just launch a mesh called Lyra.

Will that be better than the Airties? and will work with Singtel broadband?

Launch price is S$559, and is pack of 3, cost wise will be cheaper than Airties, and seems like total speed is also better.

Any views on this? Thanks

Thanks for asking this. I was considering the Linksys or the new Asus ones. From what I have read in this thread, my own equipment is important when trying to see improvements in speed. My issue is the distance between the router and the rooms as we live in a double storey house. Already using Asus AC88 router (just changed) and Apple Airport Extreme but I still can't get full signal upstairs so this mesh network really excites me.

Will wait for some of you to try the Asus ones before deciding which one to buy.

Thanks gurus!!

Renfred89,

Sorry to ask a stupid question, how do we know what speeds our clients can support?

Thanks!

You will have to check with the manufacturer of the device, or you can directly connect to a 4x4 wireless router and see what's the highest speed attained..

Guys please take note. I believe you can opt for a free site survey then decide whether you want to get the Airtiles.

I made a mistake by adding in the Wifi Mesh when I upgraded my Singtel broadband to 1Gbps. I did not receive any call from them after the recontract until I finally call them one month later.

Singtel technician came to install the Wifi mesh but I am not getting 5Ghz, only 2.4Ghz with the Wifi mesh. I decided not to get the Wifi mesh after consulting the technician.

Now the problem comes. I am already in the 2nd month of the new contract (already paid for the first month)

I was told that if my waiver request is not approved, I have 2 options;

1. Pay early termination fee @ $230 (first month already paid) and NOT get the Airtiles.
2. Take the Airtiles and continue with the monthly subscription of $10/mth.

Who in the right mind will take option 1? Talk to them really vomit blood.

May I know why u cant get 5ghz while only getting 2.4ghz?

I gonna recon soon and was thinking to add mesh cuz my dad keep said he cant detect wifi in his room.
Though he is using 2.4ghz as my room is nearer to the router, so i use 5ghz.

Well many factors. Can be the device doesn't support 5Ghz or the devices does not support VHT80 but the mesh system is using 80mhz as bandwidth..

the technician said the airtiles cannot penetrate more than 2 walls for 5ghz
