How to connect Samsung Home Connect (mesh) to SingTel broadband connection?
Hi, recently signed up for STBB 1Gbps & purchased the Samsung Home Connect non-Pro ($10/mthly) add-on as well. Received the ONR (Huawei EchoLife HG8240T5) & SingTel Mesh Router (brandless/model-less) and subsequently received the pair of Samsung Home Connect non-Pro.
May I know what the proper sequence of connection is, for connecting the Samsung Home Connect to my existing ONR and SMR? Is it:
Method A) FTP - ONR - SMR - SHC, or
Method B) FTP - ONR - SHC?
Cos I tried Method B, i.e. connecting the Samsung Home Connect to the ONR's
second LAN port (& connecting my laptop to the WLAN formed by the SHC), and when doing a tracert on my laptop, I'm experiencing double-NAT, i.e.:
Code:
C:\Users\user1>tracert 8.8.8.8
Tracing route to dns.google [8.8.8.8]
over a maximum of 30 hops:
[B] 1 2 ms 2 ms 4 ms OpenWrt.lan [192.168.2.1]
2 3 ms 1 ms 4 ms 192.168.1.254[/B]
3 7 ms 5 ms 16 ms bb116-14-73-254.singnet.com.sg [116.14.73.254]
4 7 ms 9 ms 5 ms 202.166.123.130
5 10 ms 4 ms 6 ms 202.166.123.129
6 6 ms 12 ms 11 ms ae8-0.qt-cr03.singnet.com.sg [202.166.121.101]
7 7 ms 4 ms 5 ms ae13-0.tp-cr03.singnet.com.sg [202.166.120.109]
8 6 ms 5 ms 7 ms ae4-0.tp-er03.singnet.com.sg [202.166.123.70]
9 8 ms 5 ms 5 ms ^C
notice the first
2 hops are private IPs?
Full disclosure, at this point, the SMR is still connected to my ONR's LAN port1, but I'm definitely using SHC's WLAN instead of SMR's WLAN.
For full illustration,
previously when I'm connected to the SMR's WLAN, when I do a tracert, I see:
Code:
C:\Users\user1>tracert 8.8.8.8
Tracing route to dns.google [8.8.8.8]
over a maximum of 30 hops:
[B] 1 * 3 ms 1 ms 192.168.1.254
2 5 ms 3 ms 19 ms bb116-14-73-254.singnet.com.sg [116.14.73.254][/B]
3 5 ms 4 ms 4 ms 202.166.123.130
4 5 ms 4 ms 3 ms 202.166.123.129
5 4 ms 3 ms 3 ms ae8-0.qt-cr03.singnet.com.sg [202.166.121.101]
6 7 ms 4 ms 3 ms ae13-0.tp-cr03.singnet.com.sg [202.166.120.109]
7 7 ms 5 ms 4 ms ae4-0.tp-er03.singnet.com.sg [202.166.123.70]
^C
Notice only the first hop is private IP? That should indicate no double-NAT.
So, erm, how do I connect the SHC properly in this chain of equipment?
