Hi Singtel,

I thought is possible? Can you please double check?

Air 4930 <3 Air 4920
One of the most important things to note with this new model is that it is completely backwards compatible with the previous model. They can both be part of the same mesh network!

The firmware for Air 4930 and Air 4920 is being maintained in parallel.

https://eyenetworks.no/en/airties-a...ost important,is being maintained in parallel.

anyone managed to pair 4930 with 4920?
i tried, cant be paired up however can see 2 mesh network from the app

happen to chance onto this..

not sure if this is generic or AT&T customised firmware as well. anyone dare to try?

i still have a stock copy of the latest Singtel firmware so if u try it out and cant work, i can share the singtel firmware though

source from here

For those who have SingTel TV Box connected to the mesh, better do not try.

Hi all, how do i configure Mesh ethernet backhaul with my Askey 5100w?

I have ONT, ONR and 3 Askey 5100w.

Can advice which should be the correct ethernet setup?

ONT --> ONR --> Askey 1 --> Switch <-- Askey2 and Askey 3

or

ONT --> ONR --> Askey 1,2 and 3

For Singtel TV, i assume i will need to still connect it to ONR.

Thanks in advanced.

I was never given ONR before.

But my setup is

ONT -> Asus -> Asus & TV.

I am using 3rd party router and my 1st router is linked up with the tv.

My understanding is ONR has the feature to link up with the tv; if the understanding is correct, you have to place ONR at the front.

Hi, the one you recommend is for wireless router setup which i previously using.

i'm actually looking for the correct Mesh setup with Ethernet Backhaul.

Are you using ONT or ONR? There is no such thing as ONT --> ONR. It is either ONT or ONR.

ONT -- only one port working, Ericson, ALU (now part of Nokia) or ZTE brand.

ONR -- 4 ports working, Huawei or Nokia brand.

Ref:list of SingTel ONT, ONR and routers
https://www.singtel.com/personal/support/broadband/routers-ont

Most likely you have the ONR now.

The following should work and it is simpler, especially if you have the ONR in the DB box.
ONR -- SingTel TV
ONR -- Askey 1/2/3

I believe the other way will work as well.
ONR --> Askey 1 --> Switch <-- Askey2 and Askey 3
ONR -- SingTel TV

For both cases, you have the freedom to connect SingTel TV to the Askey as well.

Hi xiaofan,

I just check again, I have:
ONT - It was stated Optical Network Terminal on top where it was connected with the fiber optic. Look like this but brand is Alcatel. https://www.singtel.com/personal/support/broadband/routers-ont/alu-ont-led-troubleshoot

You're right, it should be a Singtel router not ONR. Mine is similar to this. Maybe an older version. https://www.singtel.com/personal/support/broadband/routers-ont/alu-ont-led-troubleshoot

ONT --> Singtel Router --> Singtel TV
--> SingTel Router --> Askey 1,2,3
I was using the above ethernet setup but my Askey 3 at master room keep showing red light and the speed is very slow like 40 M

But I just made a change on it and now my setup is:

ONT --> Singtel Router --> Singtel TV
ONT --> Singtel Router --> Askey 1 -- > Askey 3
ONT --> Singtel Router --> Askey 2

Now my Askey 1 and 3 is good and the speed hit 300 Mbps. But Askey 2 around 140Mbps not sure why...
Now thinking how to further optimize Askey 2. Maybe really need a switch:s13:

I see. That is interesting. What is your SingTel router model? Maybe that is kind of the bottleneck.

Is it possible you try?
ONT --> Singtel Router --> Singtel TV
ONT --> Singtel Router --> Askey 1 -- > Askey 3 --> Askey 2 (if this is possible)

If not then yes just buy a cheap switch like TP-Link TL-SG105 (below S$30).
ONT --> Singtel Router --> Singtel TV
ONT --> Singtel Router --> Askey 1 -- > Switch
Switch -- Askey 2
Switch -- Askey 3

Singtel Router - FG7009GR(AC) Wireless Router
Is kind of faulty as the 5GHz band not working.

Can't try Askey 1 --> 3 --> 2 as not enough wall port.

Guess i'll get the TP-link switch. Thanks for the recommending this.

Hello everyone, home networking noob looking for some advices.

Currently our home is on Singtel 1 Gbps plan, with the Singtel ONR in the terminal box/ shoe cabinet, a Singtel Gigabit Router AC Elite in the living room, and a AC1200 in my MBR. During reno we did that thing where we change our phone points to data points so the AC1200 is connected to such data point.

We have having issues with poor connectivity in different areas at home, even in MBR! Our CCTV at home also have very slow loading time.

My question is would the Singtel WiFi be the magic solution for me? Specifically the 1 Gbps Askey Mesh system (a pair)?

Your situation should not happen. Basically with the ONR, two APs already in place, you should not have issues with wireless performance at least in the locations near to the router, say the living room and the MBR. AC Elite (AC1900) and AC Plus (AC1200) are not very good routers but they are okay as an AP.

You need to check what happened first and not blindly switch to SingTel Mesh solution, which is pretty bad mesh solution based on the feedbacks here.

I will suggest you check if the wiring is done correctly or not by checking the wired speed at the ONR, the AC Elite and AC Plus. You should get near to 900+ Mbps when testing with a laptop (with Gigabit Ethernet port) connecting to the LAN ports of all three.

If you have a big flat, buying two units of Linksys E9450 to form a mesh should be much better than the current Asked/Airties SingTel Mesh solution. Promotion price for new sign up and recontract customers (S$39.9 per month for 1Gbps) at S$11 single unit per month for 24 months is a good deal.

But yes the Singtel 11.11 promotion for RT-AX86U is really sweet at S$15 per month for recontract customers of 1Gbps (S$39.9 per month). You should go for it in case you want to use single router. Coverage and performance will be better than Linksys E9450.

Thanks! I tested the lan connection and got 900+ Mbps for the AC Elite in the living room, but only 90+ Mbps from the AC1200 in my MBR. What could be wrong?

Edit: the LAN port at my ONR that was feeding to the MBR gave about 900+ Mbps as well. That means something wonky with the wiring leading into the room?

Edit 2: I realised the lower speed occurred when I connect a LAN cable from the AC1200 to my laptop. When I connected my laptop directly to my MBR Lan port, the speed was good (900+)

So that means the wiring is fine. But the AC1200 give slow speed? Haha

Exactly. You need to check the wiring to the MBR.

I checked again and connected the laptop directly to the MBR Lan outlet. Works fine. Means the wiring is ok I guess. What next to fix? Haha

Let's focus on the MBR.

What is the exact model of the AC1200? Is it SingTel AC Plus or other router?

Next step is to carry out wireless speedtest in the MBR. You can use your laptop to measure wireless speed at different locations to identify the weak spots.

Optimizing the placement of the wireless router may help. You can try move your wireless router around in the MBR to see if that helps.

If in the end the result is not so good, then you can buy a better router.

Carry out the same exercise for the living room later for the AC Elite.

One possible solution is to upgrade AC Elite to a better one (eg: Asus RT-AX58U) and then move the AC Elite to the MBR to see if that performs better.
