Sitex promo. 1gbps ($59.90) + mesh (2 units, $10 monthly) and get 10 months free on 1gbps subscription.

Work out to be around $42/month. Not a bad deal there but wonder if it's only sitex exclusive or singtel shops offering the same. Online different promo mechanics.

Wow now Singtel giving 10 months free? Iirc they offered 6 months free during PC show. Seems like competition in the market is strong haha :)

Hi ZrE0_Cha0s,

The fibre broadband bundle deal includes the $100 discount off any handset, free ac dual-band router, free FTP waiver (worth $235.40) and free weekday router installation (worth $90).

Hope this clarifies, thanks.

I finally got 3 unit of the singtel mesh and set it up. The first 2 are already paired by default, and i manually added the third. All the lights are green, and I changed the SSID to my own name. My router's wifi has been turned off. How do i know that its working correctly?

Reason I'm asking is that i have a galaxy tab 3 tablet, which I connected to the wifi network while i was in the living room. The reception is good and speed is fast. I then move to my bedroom at the far end of the living room, where another mesh unit has been set up, but my tablet still locks on to the first unit in the hall, and the signal strength now shows as poor (since im in the room and unit still locked to the mesh unit in the hall)

If i were to disconnect my wifi and reconnect again, I can see that it now connects to the one in my room (as per the config page of the individual mesh unit). Isn't it supposed to automatically roam to the mesh unit with the strongest signal?

wifi mesh operates on unique switching mechanism, which takes into consideration of the signal strength and the time taken. in another words, if you leave your tablet in the new room with a function mesh node long enough, the mesh will automatically hand over to the nearest node with the better strength signal..

give it a few more seconds and you should see a difference. moreover, if there is a heavy active data traffic, the handover will only be done at the point of time where disruption is the lowest..

So in general, wifi mesh doesn't mean when you go into a stronger signal area, it will automatically switch over.. :D

I agree with what you have said and it was only after a lot of research, that i decided to go with a mesh setup. Unfortunately, it does not work how it was supposed to.

For example, i loaded a youtube video when im in the room, with the tablet associated to the mesh unit in the room. nobody else in the entire house is using the internet at this time.

I then walked to the living room. I can see my signal dropped and my video stopped as it says no connection. I would have expected that at this time, the mesh unit would have been intelligent enough to switch me to the next nearer unit, since I am no longer having any network connection (as the signal is really low).

Ok, so i thought it needed time, so i put the tab to sleep, and left it there for 15 mins. Came back after, turn it back on, and I can still see it associated to the same unit from my room, the signal is low, and i still cant surf. I need to manually turn off my wifi, effectively disconnecting me, then turn it on again, and this time i will be connected to the nearer mesh unit.

Hence my question on how to know that my Singtel mesh is working/configured correctly. If this is how it really works, then its really disappointing. I wonder if other mesh system works the same.

Hi Singtel, i signed up the package today but was told no free weekday router installation. Your staff told me to pick up manually at Somerset myself?

Hi chongpang,

Thank you for signing up for the package yesterday.

Are you an existing customer? The free weekday router installation is for new customers only. For existing customers, they can swop the router through self collection.

Hope that clarifies.

Which tablet is that may I ask?

I have signed up for a trial of the wifi mesh several months before launch at a closed door event. I tested using 3 wireless devices.

1) mac book pro retina 2014
2) Galaxy note 5
3) tab s2 (2015)

These 3 were working okay with an initial release firmware version. I was able to roam but it takes able few moments to switch from node to node. The settings of your wifi mesh matters as well.

If you have other wireless devices to test out, perhaps you can see if the issue replicates. If it does, then probably configuration part has gone wrong or your devices might not support specific mesh protocols. Generally all newer devices should support.

I'll give it a try with other devices as well. The one having issue, is the Galaxy Tab 3 Kids Edition, which i think was from late 2013/early 2014. Unfortunately, its my kids complaining that the wifi does not work when they run around the house, that made me buy this mesh system in the first place. Kids dun even know what its like living without wifi!

That is so inconvenient and inefficient. Why cant Singtel deliver the router to me when they deliver the Mesh to me? :s11:

Do you mean Singtel only want new customers but do not treasure existing customers? :s11:
