Yeah. Charged to your monthly singtel bills lo. Monthly subscription + $10.

After 24 months, you can keep the Units. Don't need return. It's yours anyway. Just instalment payment

The article seems to say that singtel wifi mesh is able to do ethernet backhaul. Has singtel updated the firmware yet?

Hi toyknight,

Yes, we've updated the firmware for the WiFi Mesh to support ethernet backhaul.

Thats good. So how do I configure to use the ethernet backhaul?

as far as i know, ethernet backhaul only works for the latest firmware version.

In order to use ethernet backhaul, the first node is connected to the router, and the subsequent nodes can also connect to the router. It doesn't work on all routers but tested to be working on 7003 and ac elite router. I will be curious to know if it works on 3rd party routers too, which i believe it does due to the fact airties works on AP mode only, while not on routing mode which has double NAT.

Hopefully can work with 3rd party router, otherwise will need to think of how to connect the nodes or maybe just change back 7003.

Am I right to say that with ethernet backhaul I don't need to place the nodes in line of sight of each other?

currently, the airties firmware cannot be upgraded manually. The firmware can only be upgraded when you are on singtel fibre, using the singtel issued router, then the upgrade process will be automatically pushed like how your singtel router is upgraded..

Thanks for the reply!

I wonder why the Singtel SMR email me the firmware separately.... :s22:

So can i assume all new Singtel Arties sets has a choice to choose between wireless or ethernet backhaul? Or it auto detect what sort of configuration themselves? For ex: if i connect two of them via ethernet directly to singtel router, it will auto become ethernet backhual?

If Singtel emails you the firmware, then good for you lor.. Hahas.

Only the latest firmware supports ethernet backhaul, and from what I know, only new batches have the latest firmware while current units do not have it yet.

The airties units come from factory paired up already, so hooking them up via ethernet will automatically link up each other..

Hi nomo,

If your WiFi Mesh is running the latest firmware which supports ethernet backhaul, it will auto-detect and configure accordingly.

I thought I saw the option to manually update the firmware in one of the options in the web admin console.

Not bad, singtel email you the firmware. I still checking whether my units are using the new firmware or not.

Latest firmware will not have the usual Singtel logo on it but branded as airties as shown on hwz review.

Manual update button is for u to upload the firmware using a file, while it's not via server..
