Let's focus on the MBR.

What is the exact model of the AC1200? Is it SingTel AC Plus or other router?

Next step is to carry out wireless speedtest in the MBR. You can use your laptop to measure wireless speed at different locations to identify the weak spots.

Optimizing the placement of the wireless router may help. You can try move your wireless router around in the MBR to see if that helps.

If in the end the result is not so good, then you can buy a better router.

Carry out the same exercise for the living room later for the AC Elite.

One possible solution is to upgrade AC Elite to a better one (eg: Asus RT-AX58U) and then move the AC Elite to the MBR to see if that performs better.

Thank you so much for the advices!

Hi, I would like to check if I can re-use my Airties 4920 if I decide to switch to M1? Or I need to get a new Mesh

can just that any new firmware upgrade pushes down by singtel, u will not get it as it is push thru their network.

since u are on M1, u will not be receiving it.

Singtel now offering Singtel Mesh Extender AC2600.

It is said this SingTel Mesh Extender can work in the following two ways.

1) form mesh with itself.
SingTel now gives a free pair of the SingTel Mesh Extender AC2600 for SingTel 2Gbps subscriber.

2) form mesh with the SingTel Mesh router AC1900 as the slave mesh node. Singtel gives away free Singtel Mesh Router now for new Fibre 1Gbps subscriber.

I will still say avoid SingTel specific mesh solutions including this one, and the existing Askey or Airties. They are tied to Singtel and not worth the cost.

If you want low cost mesh, go with TP-Link Deco M4 or M5. If you want better performance, get triband mesh solution like TP-Link Deco M9+, Netgear Orbi RBK75x or RBK85x, Asus Zenwifi CT8/XT8, etc.

Currently using Askey wifi mesh and am looking to get a replacement for it for better performance. :s13:

Looking at TP-link Deco series as they offer decent mesh at decent prices.

Yes you can of course use 3rd party mesh solutions.

Take note Linksys Velop does not support SingTel VLAN so you may still need the SingTel router if you are the ONT users.

Avoid Google Nest router as well as it does not support SingTel VLAN and does not support Mesh in AP mode.

Asus Zenwifi, Asus AIMesh, Netgear Orbi and TP-Link Deco are possible alternative to SingTel mesh solutions from Airties, Askey and Arcadyan (the new Singtel Mesh extender AC2600).

Say if I buy tplink deco. Can I replace the singnet router with tplink router or do I connect tplink router to one of the ethernet ports of singnet router?

TP-Link Deco supports SingTel VLAN, as long as you do not have SingTel TV, then the other port can be used for Ethernet backhaul. In that case, you can replace SingTel router.

If you have SingTel TV box, it is probably better to keep the SingTel router as the main router. Then you can connect Deco main unit to the SingTel router. TP-Link Deco supports Mesh in AP mode.

I am facing dead zones with my current AC Elite setup, and thus bought a few units of Askey from carousell to test out the performance.

My setup is as follow:

ONT -> AC Elite Port 1-> Askey(Study) ---- Askey (Bedroom)
AC Elite Port 2-> Askey (TV) -> 4-Port Switch-> Singtel TV & PS4.

I get very good coverage and reasonable performance, and manage to eliminate the dead zone in the bedroom as well. Initially, I only setup 2 units at the study and bedroom, and its was very stable. However, problems started when I added a 3rd unit at the TV area using ethernet backhaul, and connect to Singtel TV - I start to experience on/off connections on my phone to the wifi.

Can the shifus here advice (1) if my setup is correct?; (2) what could be the cause of the intermittent connectivity? My suspicion is the 4 port switch for my Singtel TV and PS4.

i am using askey mesh from singtel. My desktop in my bedroom is utilising the wifi mesh ethernet backhaul for internet connectivity.

During my desktop boot, I can see the 5GHz band LED on the askey toggles to red a few times before returning to green. I am experiencing random weird loss of internet connectivity on my desktop occasionally when i boot up my PC.

Is using mesh wifi backhaul channel for my desktop connectivity not recommended?

What if you remove the PS4 from the switch? Or just remove the switch and connect the SingTel TV directly to the Askey?

Are you using Ethernet backhaul or wireless backhaul?

If you use wireless backhaul, then the connection is important, it is better to have direct line of sight if possible.

If you already use Ethernet backhaul, that should not happen.

Your terminolgy use is a bit strange. But I get it you are using Ethernet backhaul and not wireless backhaul.

In that case, it seems to me the mesh node is behaving strangely. You have to get Singtel to support.

Or as I always suggest, forget about Askey/Airties and get a proper mesh. There are full of problem reports in this thread.
