ic.. yea sounds bad, one of my friend in architecture in NUS say his eyes very pain after all the drawings.. and prospects aren't that good also, lke u must have the flair + the opportunity in the big architecture firms like DP or RSP.

btw, there is no optometry, radiology or vet sci in local uni?

Very sure local uni doesnt have vet science. In aussie uni, they have very good facilities for vet science. UQ has other campuses including Ipswich and Gatton. I've heard that Gatton campus is normally for Vet science students. They have so much more exposure to the animals here! Envy. I'm just not cut out for Vet science. Would really love to study it, however it is beyond my capabilities.

yes Gatton..the place where no buildings is taller than 2 storeys, smells of cow manure, lots of big animals and located in the middle of nowhere... :(

So r school fees paid in yearly/semester/monthly/quarterly installments? Or what's the arrangement?

Also.. what's good to do in brisbane? apart from the gold coast? My family's going for holiday there next month.. so anyone got recommendations?

I've thought of working part time raising funds for my overseas studies. It didnt make sense for me in the end because:

1. The money saved during part time work is only that much. Unless you are working like 2k plus a month, there is not much you can save. Think of it that you save 1k a month, one year you save 12k. That is probably only enough for one year of expenditure w/o school fees.

2. Studying earlier = graduating earlier = "hopefully" find a much better paid job than working part-time.

3. I've heard from people who lost desire to study after spending a period of time working, don't wish to leave "comfort zone" and study again.

4. If you've just graduated, you'll probably remember bits and pieces of fundamental concepts. Even if you have no relevent knowledge of the degree, the time difference between your last education status is not too far off. You know how to manage school life, study stress, exam cramming, etc.

However, if you need time to know whether the course you'll be enrolling in is suitable for you, pls feel free to work in the relevent industry if possible and get to know what the workplace/scope of work is like. If it suits you, go for the degree.

no point working part time if it is gng to jeopardise your results. the risk of failing and re-taking the module just doesnt make any sense. if you cant afford, maybe you should work for 1-2years. get some working experiences and save up a bit 1st.

hi, I am planning to further my study in UQ in this july, major in accounting and finance. But now I am having problems in looking for a suitable accomodation for 5 persons. Our budgets are around AUD140pw and hopefully look for off-campus accomodation which near to Uni (or rent a house). So, any recommendations and suggestion?Thx :)

i suggest you split up the group of 5, rent a 2 and 3bedroom unit instead. many issues will arise when too many ppl stay under one roof. examples: internet usage, kitchen, bathroom, laundry and cleaning of the house.

with 140 per week you can easily find a place near uni. try to go for unit instead of house.

Hi ppl,

I have been offered a place in UQ's Law school at the St Lucia campus...

Can someone advise me on accomodations? Are there places for rent near(ie within walking distance) the campus?

st lucia is the only suburb within walking distance. price range from $110-$180

you might wish to consider toowong, indooroopilly, taringa, milton, west end(take ferry).

Hey guys, just got my offer letter from UQ. Would be doing international hotel n tourism management at St. Lucia this july. Any recommendations for accommodation? What do you guys think of on-campus ones such as international house or cromwell? As for off-campus, anyone's got a spare room or would like to share a place?

Any help would be much appreciated!
