Just sharing, used youtrip twice on different days in tokyo and fx is slightly better than the best fx compared to moneychanger.co on similar days.

Just want to clarify:
#1 Transfer money from credit card to Youtrip account
#2 Exchange SGD to foreign currency

Are there any delay/lag time for the above? If I see a favorable rate oversea, can I exchange and use IMMEDIATELY? Or have to wait days/hours for the exchange to take place?

#1: no delay
#2: you can exchange immediately. as for me, I didn't do it and I pay on spot, letting youtrip do smartexchange for me (changing sgd to yen).

Same here. Let youtrip do the smartexchange, do not need to exchange in advance, except if the rate is really good (80+). and its instant.

The only problem i had with youtrip on my 2 weeks trip was, when they suddenly need to re-authenticate for me when i tried to top-up. ask me for OTP, when my SG sim card is not active. but they can do email auth. was a bit pissed though as i was buying shinkansen tickets, and not enough budget, tried to top-up, and get this thing.

What is the purpose of exchanging currency in youtrip? If you charge to it in a foreign currency it will deduct in that currency automatically right?

Sent from Xiaomi REDMI NOTE 7 using GAGT

I'm jn Japan now. No issue but first you need to have internet connection via Changi Wifi Router or Data Roaming. I just topped up another $500. I think I spend too much in Japan. 😅

I think it's a lot better than money changer. You can't find money changers wanting to change at market rate. They sure want to earn some kopi money from your transaction. It's also difficult to change back to SGD if you have leftover cash. Youtrip makes all these easier. I still have some currencies from my Taiwan trip many years ago. If Youtrip was around that time, I would have finished using my cash earlier and use Youtrip to pay for rest of the trip. It's also easier to top up if you happen to buy more things.
