that means some or all of the banks are lying that the transaction counted or not is based only mcc code and not by the bank.

There is no mcc for online transaction. Only a tag to indicate.

So,for credit cards which gives more reward points for online transactions, they look for the online tag.

For credit cards which gives more reward points for merchant specific transactions, they look for mcc.

I have purchased at Redmart and paid using both citibank cash back and ocbc frank and were awarded 8% and 6% cash rebate respectively. So, redmart transaction is coded with a Grocery MCC and given an online tag.

fee waiver

how many of you have gotten an annual fee waiver for this card?

if you have, mind sharing the spending pattern that you have?

I'm now in this irritating stage where it is the last month and I have $20+ rebates currently. not sure to accumulate to reach $50 so that I can redeem for my next statement - only can use if annual fee is waived.

either that or I forfeit my $20+! spending on the card is around $1k or slightly less/month. any idea?

was billed annual fee
Called in on 19th and requested waiver thru voice machine.
received sms on 24th saying fee waived.

me
Like I said in another thread, waiver experience differs individually.
If u kiasi and kiasu, don use the card until waiver is given
Or u can chiong n accumulate $50 and redeemed before annual fee imposed;)

P.S: I have not been using the card since ANZ exculdes ezlink from collecting optimum $

I just got my annual fee waived. That's probably because I have paid their finance charge and interest fee for a payment which I had missed out (they refused to waive it!).Seldom use the card though..... And the customer service, seriously is lacking

Initially they refused to waive my annual fee and I canceled the card. Then they called me to offer to uncancel the card. $36 Optimum$ earned still intact. Plan to earn up to $50, redeem and then say goodbye to the card. Maybe apply again when I eligible for sign up offer lol.

Anecdotal evidence suggests that parodoxically, the more you got out of the card as far as rebates are concerned, the less inclined they are to waive the annual fee.

Anz does not support Apple & Samsung/android pay.

Think is loosing market share fast. Card has been in my drawer for more than a year.

i choose entertainment last Qtr. i forgot to select on 25th June as i thought same 5% will still apply for entertainment.

if never indicate means only 1% for entertainment only?

Reminder: Last day to select 5% category. If haven't select will get only 1% for the next 3 months.

If this is the 2nd quarter since you own the card, the category stays the same as the first quarter category, still get 5% for dining and entertainment. If this is not second quarter then only 1% for all spend.

i think just to be safe you should submit your category selection again, since only the latest selection is applicable.

"3. What if I make multiple selections before the cut-off time?

Only your most recent category selection will be valid and applicable for the next calendar quarter."

No apple pay? No samsung pay? No android pay? Doesn't matter... optimum card already has built in paywave which uses the same payment terminal.

not too sure how apple/samsung/android pay compatibility is a deal breaker considering how easily phones can be compromised nowadays.

and those cardless pay mode are not that widely available anywhere in the world such that you do not have to bring the cards out at all

adding on... in areas like US, europe n UK, technologies like "paywave" is not widely available even in their capital cities. alot of merchants still prefer the card swiping or smart-chip reader machines

or CASH

Can I ask a noob question, I received my bill, total Optimum$ earned is about 500, I just applied to redeem the cash rebate. Will the cash rebate be credited before the next bill i.e. should I pay my current bill in full or should I pay $500 less?

Will take a few days for the cash rebate to be credited. Check in online banking or call in a few days before due date to see if rebate is credited. If credited then need to pay $500 less, if not pay full.

Thanks, wasn't sure if ANZ would only credit the amount in the next bill. Will keep a look out!

By the way, I used the 5% dining to earn cash rebate from my wedding banquet, the savings were substantial. :s13: Couples having their weddings soon can check if their banquet venue has an eligible merchant code.
