Ah ok thanks! Everything outside the 4 categories are under 1%?

1% for everything else except transactions not eligible for Optimum$ include, but are not limited to, cash advances, loan on card, finance charges, late payment charges, balance transfer, interest-free instalment payment plan, insurance plan payment(s), EZ-Link/ TransitLink transactions, brokerage /securities transactions, online gaming transactions and/or other unauthorised charges which the Bank may add to, or remove from, the above list of eligible charges and transactions from time to time at its reasonable discretion. The Bank’s decision as to what constitutes an eligible Retail Spend shall be final and conclusive.

Just applied this card online 2 nights ago. Scoured through the last 20 pages of this post and info overload :)

For the Dining cateogory for bars - Does this mean all type of drinking places? Example Disco, Pubs etc etc.

IO am also always confused for restuarants that serve more as drinking places such as Brozeit, if they are considered under entertainment or dining merchant code.

You will not know the MCC for sure, just have to make the best guess or base on crowd-sourced information. You can contribute any new finding under the MCC tab in the spreadsheet. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...nzk8ULWf1zsRX9F-rniLbRwwR4/edit?usp=drive_web

The way the category is defined remains not transparent to us (user) 'cos it will be determined by Mastercard on how the merchants are categorise. So even u call the ANZ CSO, the pinoy will not know too until the transactions are posted to their system (from Mastercard)....I found this part very irritating and frustrating. Means at the point of payment, u are not 100% sure w/r the merchant falls under your chosen category not.

For e.g. I have one case where my chosen category is Travel and I booked my ticket via cheapticket.com.sg...OCBC classified this portal as Travel BUT ANZ don't, simply cos cheaptickets registered themselves to credit card company (in this case, to Mastercard) as a non-travel company....heart pain lost my max. cashyback per transaction i.e. S$60 x 3 transactions!
For online big spends, I think you should stick with SCB Singpost. Can't go wrong. Online is always online. Also you get 7% cashback straight away next month. But $60 is max for 1 month.

The 10% not even awarded so how to confirm? Any online spend not excluded in the TnC should be eligible.

Just a tip for those redeeming the $50 rebate. If you make your last transaction before your statement date and quickly do a redemption, you can probably get the rebate before you need to pay the bill for that statement. Mine came about 2 weeks after I redeemed so I don't have to pay the last bill.

I guess I will close this cancel this card in the next couple of months, once I get the $50 optimum dollars redeemed. I have used this card for almost 1 and half years already and this has been my primary card. However, I have just applied for the CIMB promotion of spending $300 per month for 6 months to get $25 per month. My month spend is usually not a lot 300-500 normally. So next 6 months CIMB will be my primary card and I wont use this ANZ optimum. Might as well cancel it and reapply after 1 yr hopefully the Luggage offer is still there :)

This is one lousy card which I regretted getting. Too many terms and conditions. Did an online travel transaction recently.
1. Realised it caps at S$30 per transaction
2. Then they slapped me with 2.5% cross border fee for airline ticket purchase.
Gonna cancel it once I redeem the optimum $

usually i dont like to anyhow slam people but i will suggest you to read up on the T&C thoroughly before applying for any CC to avoid any future disappointment. I've got cards from UOB/Citi/HSBC/ANZ, all have some funny funny T&Cs

Moreover, this S$30 isn't only written in the fine print, it is outrightly written in their website

go read "earning your cash rebate" https://sg.anz.com/apps/optimum/about.html

as for (2), other banks also have cross border fee
