i usually break up my transactions if I make my business trip bookings with Expedia. Book air ticket one transaction, then continue with hotel booking 2nd transaction.

If the amount is gonna be more than $600 per transaction, then I will recommend you to use other cashback cards, ie AMEX true cashback.

I'm like u. I went down to the outlet and asked the person to break up my 6k package into 10x$600 transactions.

Lol in the end got $300 cashback

hearsay that ANZ is quite strict with the 80k annual salary criteria for online application, dont know how true it is. i retracted that application and went to roadshow to sign the card instead

I usually spend between $500-$1500 in a month

during holiday/festive season months it goes upto $2500.

is this card worth getting?

my areas of spending: nightlife, grocery, online payments (vehicle insurance, tax, uber taxi, air tickets)

I also tend to spend more during overseas travel..so any benefit there?

2 questions:

1) someone mentioned that they got SMS from ANZ saying that if you spend SGD100 on a single receipt, you can SMS a format back to ANZ and stand a chance to receive up to SGD300.

is this still going on? I didn't get that SMS. anyone can give me the format so i can try my luck?

2) Anyone tried using the dining category overseas? Thinking of using that for overseas dining spend since the 5% rebate will offset all the pesky fees (1.5% ANZ + 1% Mastercard + X% forex rate). Should have no issues with MCC for overseas restaurants/bars right?

Your second question: I tired in Viet Nam, no issues getting 5%. Recently I paid in US restaurants, but still need to see the statement.

Been a while since I posted here but realised the T&C is very ambiguous for ANZ card regarding what happens if you set the preferred spend category during a period (because you just got card). The internet website kept having issues and ANZ telephone support said they will get back to me but never do - apparently it has issues with new registrations. Then after reading T&C more closely I realise that the $30 cap in rebate per transaction applies (making it useless for big spend) and I just feel in general it's full of 'gotcha' type strategies. Can't be bothered.

Back to my AMEX, 365, SCB and Citi SMRT combination.

Don't know what mean but I thought you need to choose a cat when you first apply for the card?

A well known work-around exists for this cap...

Hmm to be honest it has been over a month between when I applied and when I got the card - and now I've forgotten what the process was! Either way I'm not clear on what my category is so the only incentive for me is to spend $488 to get the $100.

Btw what's the work around? Split a transaction?
