Don't need to get so stress about the rounding.

Just swipe anything that is $2.00 and above. In the end, you will lose Optimum$ 0.9 due to rounding down, which is like $0.90 at most. Ultimately, you will still get close to 4-5% which is very good % in rebates (especially for dining) in my opinion.

You should just take note of the last quarter to make sure you can hit Optimum$ 50 so you can redeem. Otherwise, you will get 0% in rebates!

not sure what you mean by last quarter? last quarter of a calendar year must hit $50 in optimum$? and why must hit that amount?

Best if he card is used mainly for transactions that fall under the selected category for up to 5% rebate. There are lots of other cards that give better than 1% rebate

Like? With no minimum spending as well that is...

The optimum$ is awarded like this:

If the transaction fall under the selected category for up to 5% rebate, you get 0.1 optimum$ per $2 spending. (ie transaction amounts $2 to $3.99 all get 0.1 optimum$ only)

If the transaction do not fall under the selected category, you get 0.1 optimum$ per $10 spending. (ie transaction amounts $10 to $19.99 all get 0.1 optimum$ only)

Also note that optimum$ awarded is capped at 30 optimum$ per transaction

At the end of the month the total optimum$ you get is sum of the optimum$ from each transaction and then rounded down to the nearest optimum$.

Maybe you can share what is the breakdown of the $2800 spending

thanks for info.

always thought minimum spend must be more than $10 before i got any points

The quarter before you are hit with the annual fee.

You must accumulate 50 Optimum$ before you can redeem. And if you do not redeem, the rebate will be used to offset the annual fee.

Best is to accumulate 50 Optimum$ and redeem it prior to the annual fee. Then you may cancel the card if they do not waive the annual fee. ;)
