Made a reservation with QCD for the $38 battery during December and today is my appointment date. Been using my battery for more than 3 years and the capacity is 87%.

Went down for my 10.15am appointment. Removed my casing and the staff made a record of the phone’s physical condition. I did not remove my screen protector and did not do any backup when sending my phone in. They did not ask me to unlock my phone/turn off find my iPhone as well. Was informed that the servicing time will take around 3 to 5 hours and I went home.

Received an email at around 1.50pm and I went down to collect my phone. Was a fuss free process, got back my phone with the screen protector and memory intact. The battery had a charge level of under 10% so I went home immediately to charge it.

Registered for the $38 replacement via QCD@Wheelock before 2018 ended.

Received an email about within less than 1 week into 2019, telling us to book for an appointment for a lesser waiting time.

Appointment at 12pm on a weekday, and sent it in. Don’t have/need to remove tempered glass and the passcode. Advised by staff they will (try to) retain the data, but not their responsibility if there is any loss of data and advised to have backed up before sending it in. (The usual stuff)

Went for lunch, shop around, received SMS and email at about 2:45pm that it is ready for collection. About 10-15 mins of waiting time, checked the phone, battery health at 100%, paid and left.

Went home and checked under CoconutBattery app on the Mac for the number of battery cycles, it’s at 0 cycles (as expected).

I did my replacement at A-Lab last year. Screen protector gone, didn't even warn me in advance. It was quite a pricey tempered glass screen protector

Anyone knows If still under warranty, like with a month left. And battery health is like 95%, will Apple store do a battery replacement?

Since their website says "If your iPhone is covered by warranty, AppleCare+, or consumer law, we'll replace your battery at no charge. Not sure if you're covered? Check if you have AppleCare+ by entering your iPhone serial number."

Must be below a certain percentage.

Just collected back my phone from a.lab ccp. Only took like 10 mins or so for them to replace the battery. Damn fast. Screen protector and memory still there. They will return our SIM card and need to switch off find my iPhone when send in the phone.

hey, I missed the 31 Dec 2018 deadline due to being overseas.
Do you think I could still walk into Apple store and ask them to make an exception for me for a battery change at the $38 price ?

Unlikely they give u one whole year to do it

Replaced mine at QCD. Booked under Apple last year but they couldn’t do it as it was too late.

Took a bet and chose QCD Wheelock. Read the reviews and saw some pretty bad reviews. But my experience was great. Sent in at 1pm in a weekday, the crowd was very little. Handed in the phone, signed forms etc took about 20 mins.

Phone was ready for collection at 2pm, but I collected it only after work at 6pm. Screen protector and data intact.

New battery really makes a difference

bloated battery i think got 3yrs warranty?

had a device bloated also out of warranty but replaced free

Will try my luck this weekend, was wondering why my screen is kind of curve initially, then realised it’s the battery gets bloated and pushing the screen out in the centre lol

Just to update, I was given a replacement set for free because of the bloated battery.
