Apple Battery Replacement Program 2019 ($69 and $99)

Just bought 2nd hand iphone 7, seller claimed battery changed at Apple store.

When I got the phone, battery health at 99% but within 1 month, dropped to 93%. Is it possible? Could it be the battery is not original as what he claimed?

I think it depends on how you use it and whether other components in the system got problems or not. Apple will run a simple system health test about your phone before the battery change.

I went to Apple Orchard in January this year and checked my iPhone 6S+ with broken Touch ID and unhealthy battery at 70+%, the staff confirmed that the Touch ID was broken and recommended against any repair because of the cost associated. Touch ID change needs to change screen as well and it is costly. Battery change alone is not good either since he claims the broken Touch ID will drain the battery and the battery will not last long. I think that was a good advice so I did not do anything about the iPhone 6S+.

On the other hand, my other iPhone 6S only got battery health problem so I bite the bullet and paid S$69 to change the battery (I was thinking of not changing last year and skipped the S$39 program) based on the diagnosis and the advice. Now it is still at 100%.

You can ask the seller to provide the invoice from Apple to confirm.

This is what apple genius told me when I was at apple orchard. Have to be genuine bloated becos they will open up and diagnose that it is bloated.

Anybody can recommend 3rd party shop to change genuine battery for iphone 5S?

Replaced battery at Sim Lim last yr. every shop I asked says they use original battery. So went for the $25 replacement.
During replacement , I checked the new battery. Came in nicely wraps stick plastic. Wordings on battery same as the original battery taken out from my phone. Thought I had a good deal.

Lo and behold, the new battery doesn’t last more than a day with Low use, 1 year later, battery stopped being able to charge. Battery didn’t work like a genuine original...

Until now, my iphone 4 still last at least 3 days on original battery with low use after so many years.

Other than Apple authorised workshop, any recommendations on where can I find genuine original battery replacement.

I seriously doubt any of those neighbourhood aka ah beng shops will have original apple battery

Depend on user charging habit
Mine ip7 change at q1 2018 now may 2019 I got 91% and I charge often too

Mine parents 6s+ change before end dec 2018 now still 100%

It’s all down to user habit

The battery life also depends on the condition of the phone. If there are other problems with the phone, especially old phones, battery may drain faster due to degradation of the components inside.

I went to Apple Orchard to check the health of an iPhone 6S+, I knew the touch ID sensor was faulty and battery health was only at 71%. The guy did a diagnostic test on the phone and told me no point to change, as the replacement of Touch ID was expensive (need to change screen too), and changing the battery only would not be worthwhile because the faulty touch ID would cause batter drain.

I took his advice and not to change anything. So far it is still working except the touch ID. Just need to charge when the battery goes low. It is a backup phone so not an issue.

I read on apple store website that $69 batt replacement for iPhone SE,
iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus,..and all other eligible models.
But I could not find a list of "other eligible models".
Does 5s fall under this category?

Usually no touch of data. And in my case no touch of screen protector. But no guarantee -- they will check with you if you have done the backup just in case. They will also tell you the possibility of removing the screen protector.
