1. true they didnt check mine, just replaced last week iphone x.
2. depends on where you going to do it, if there are'nt much issues, they replaced it for me within 2 hours.
3. yes back up so you can restore later, i was given a new phone, they didn't just replace the battery... even if they are just replacing the battery, should always back up.

Is it right to assume that it will be properly waterproof sealed after battery replacement if I change it directly with apple or its authorised service centres?

As long as you change in Apple, it will be properly sealed back.

They won’t be able to proceed with battery replacement unless you agree to pay for screen replacement as well.

Always change Battery with Apple.

I changed once with their authorized one and got issue, almost two weeks not resolved and I have to escalate to Apple to get refurb replacement.

We’re on the same boat, my wife’s XS is at 86%, this is the first iPhone I have which is reporting such poor health after only one year. My XR on the other hand is at 100% after 10 months. I’m thinking if there’s any issue with the battery...

as long as the battery is supporting normal peak performance, they will say its nothing wrong. their diagnostic software say nothing wrong with battery.

anyway my warranty expired last month.

some of the recounts in the past 2 pages mention that even with AC+, so long battery is not below 80%, you cannot change unless you pay.

a lot of conflicting reports, that's why it's frustrating. AC+ for X series is $369. I think most customers would expect premium service.

dont read too much here, go to apple store and have them run diagnostics on your phone, we all have different usage pattern.

Just be prepared that they will say your battery is still fine and within specs.

I got a 1-1 exchange for my X in Jan (13mths old), battery 90% on Apple care +. No questions asked at A.lab.
Now I have ip8 at 85% (15mths) with Apple care+ too so fingers crossed. Battery change good enough, no need 1-1.

The contract for AC+ is always below 80% then can change. There is no contest here.

How people reported they can change will be down to how you bring it up to them, the “unique” situation that occurs to you.

If you think that by walking in to Apple and demand to change it when it is still 80% or higher, then you are wrong.

As to what unique situation, I think better not to disclose here so the market is not spoiled. My reasons to Apple is they cannot dispute some facts and what kind of customer I am.

It is the same thing with M1 eSIM, I got the fees all waived by telling convincing reasons why it should be waived.

Giving them a convincing reason is very important in changing the battery or even replacing the whole unit. It’s not simply telling them “Oh my battery health is at 90% and I would like to replace it within my warranty period to continue using it for another year...”

Applies to with or without AppleCare+. Apple replaced my XS Max two days before the one year limited warranty is up with no question asked. Obviously the reason cannot be disclosed here as it will spoil the market as mentioned by one of the bros here.

Utimately, it’s up to you how convincing you are.
