Yes, I do noticed that too. The last two days I redeemed the $1 Gong Cha tea through the UOB-Apple Pay offers and I didn't see anyone else using the phone to pay. Either they don't like the milk tea with pearl jelly which is offered or they are not iPhone users.

Even when I paid at Giant, the Store manager who was manning the cashier asked me about it. I guess she was curious too.

However, earlier I had problem using my iphone with the Sheng Siong's self-pay machine and the cashier was telling me that the other customers held the phone a certain way and it worked and shown me how to do so. Basically I just need to hold the phone perpendicular to the reader (top of the phone touching where I would normally tap my paywave cards) and it will do the trick. earlier I tried to tap the phone full body with the reader.

Oh incidentally, I have my Passion Card in the phone cover and when I move my iphone to the bus and mrt Ezlink reader, my iphone Apple Pay screen came on. I guess it will come out as long as there is an NFC reader near by or soon we can use it to pay for our mrt and bus trips.

Almost everywhere I went they were curious why I tapped my phone on card reader.

The only notable exception is Starbucks. All the apple hippies go there I guess.

I bet even if u use Apple Pay next week will still qualify within 20k users

Yup, Starbucks is the only place understands "Apple Pay" so far for me now, the rest places I had to say pay-wave.
Just now at takashimaya the DBS logo white paywave machine was put on the table, so can't put my 6 plus whole body vertically it failed once, then I put my phone horizontally and it worked.

Ya, maybe like the bro said, we only need to tab the head of the iPhone(nfc chip's position?) rather than the whole body, will try again by just tabbing the head portion of the phone next time.

Tapping the head also is a lot more comfortable way to hold the phone. Actually you don't need to keep on finger on the home button the whole time. Just after the Apple Pay screen appear, do the finger print authentication and you can hold the phone anyway to tap on the reader.

After learning about tapping the head, it works seamlessly after that. No more holding up the queue trying to position the phone.

Ya, just tried again, only pointed my phone head to the pay wave machine will do seamlessly, angle does not matter.

No need tap the phone like paywave card that has to be put parallel with the machine surface.

yeah i noticed the demo videos all pointing the top of iphone at the reader. this is more convenient.
for samsung phones, normally the nfc antenna is at back cover, more difficult to tap.

I wonder if they can allow apple for transport but without needing thumbprint. Will cause jams otherwise.

Quite hard to do away with finger prints I feel. It's the Touch ID that makes Apple Pay secure

You can bring up the Apple Pay screen, so the finger print authentication while waiting to get to the gantry. Then when there just tap and go.

I tried before on at a few stations' gantries. The Apple Wallet screen shows up, put my finger on Touch ID, nothing happens.

You can try it too at non-peak period. Apple Pay is not able to authenticate anything from the ez-link card reader.
