They don’t sell computer with Intel chips. Doesn’t mean that does not with the latter.

I have gone through to the pain of using powerMac. Sluggish and the bomb sign often show up. The Autocad on Mac Quadra was sluggish too. Witness Simulation software couldn't run on Mac. Then the big boss... decided to switch to Dell. It was such a relieve and speedy too. Power PC couldn't compete because the demand wasn't there and no money for improvement on the design. Mac OS on Power PC was a piece crap.

I think the situation is a bit different then vs now. How good the software/hardware is is usually a result of R&D. R&D result comes from talent, and talent comes from money. Back then Apple was a company almost going to be bankrupt. Now they are the richest company on the planet.

Those days, software have big influence on which platform they run on, but it is much lesser today because on convergence in feature set. Moreover chipsets nowadays are expanding their feature set covering very specific use cases with SIMD, and NPU, hardware codec, so we no longer can do a one-to-one comparison with years back around 2000.

It would seems the list of softwares you have mentioned are inherently Windows based and software developers those days are more proficient on Direct2D/3D rather than OpenGL. It didn’t happen to me when I was on PowerPC with my kind of software + image editing. Those perform quite well on Mac. As we know Apple has come a long way designing the Cortex processors since AIM PowerPC, and clearly the iPad Pro 2020 isn’t a shabbily machine, thus I do have confidence that the migration to Cortex will be an interesting move.

Yes. Back then, "we make chip for Apple, we must use Apple".

I still blame Apple for removing 3.5mm to sell their Airpods.
Wireless still cmi compared to wired.

Apple all the way has been a "For Profit" company, eg their KNS apple lightning cable instead of USB-C

they just want more profit that's why they are ditching Intel for ARM for bigger profit margin.
