I dunno about you guys, but when riding a foldie, even those manhole covers or very low (e.g. 1-2") kerbs also feels damn terrible.

Don't even need to talk about trails

Not only that, the handlebar is too sensitive. But that said, people have been riding freestyle bike for years and going to all sort of places (except trail) with no complaint.

Probably best to limit your spending only to the essentials.
Hold off your bike upgrade or new purchase for now.

Maybe about 2 weeks but be ready for a smashed-up package. I had one (nothing missing) and someone else on here just a couple of weeks ago received a spoilt package with almost everything gone.

standard way of mounting

Thanks for the suggestions.
Reason for trying to mount on stem is to free up some space on the handlebar for other stuff like lights, or maybe a loud horn.
My current cycle computer (Bontrager Trip 100) is mounted with the provided rubber bands, but the base doesn't secure well when trying to use cable ties or normal rubber bands to tie the mount at 90 deg.

I'm reluctant to install one of those handlebar extensions

coz it makes the bike quite bulky when trying to put into the car.

Same sized tyres, more familiarity with one style of bike, etc.

i think its much easier cause your inventory of spares can be streamlined

Your career and job stability should be number one priority. Only then should you invest more time, money and resources into other things and hobbies.

There are foldies just for trails. e.g. Montague paratrooper. The wheels are big and the tyres are meant to be used in trails. The frame has been reinforced to be very tough, rugged and strong.

But for smaller wheel foldies, of course these can't go trails.

Not only that, the handlebar is too sensitive. But that said, people have been riding freestyle bike for years and going to all sort of places (except trail) with no complaint.

Its not sensitive. Its because you are accustomed to the comfort of big wheels. Many people who use MTB always say that foldies are very "twitchy" because the wheels are small, creating constant vibration. Secondly, the small wheels are easy to steer and can cause unintentional steering.

Its all a matter of getting used to it.
