Help. I am now looking at buying shimano zee from crc.
Cassette i chose 11-32t. But biggest chainring available for zee is only 38t. I understand zee rd can take big cogs of 32t and 52t chainring shouldn't be a problem. So if 32t cog + 38t chainring how to be fast enough? Though zee is for mtb; mine is foldie.

I should just use my current 9 speed 52t chainring?

Again i might consider 105 rd and roadbike cassette. But shifter will be a problem. Is 105 rd with xt shifter a proper pairing? Dont want to end up with lousy shifting.

im on 406 wheels (on 20x 1.0) i find 53X12 very undergeared, my chain keeps coming off especially if i use the bigger gears. im looking at a 58t or even a 60t now.

to ensure perfect shifting , just use all the same model, in this case use the tiagra 10 speed shifters

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/...700-2x10sp-flat-bar-shifter-set/rp-prod137775

10 speed deraileurs

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/sg/en/shimano-tiagra-4700-10-speed-rear-mech/rp-prod137774

for front D, you need to buy carefully, see if your frame can fit, most likely yours would need a band type.

and cassette get teh chain as well since you need the 10 speed chain as its thinner

for me, its the bedok north rd, just b4 the exit to PIE, you have to take the center lane to avoid entering PIE, uphill, then stay on center lane downhill to avoid cars exiting PIE.

Yeah, you have to be careful there. Signal! :s12:

This morning, right after midnight I find myself riding north on Hougang Ave. 3 after riding down to the Merlion earlier in the evening. I noticed to my left this tall, slightly plump 30-40 yr male riding one of those stand up e-scooters. He was really moving - max speed was probably 30 km/hr. The pavement was dark but the e-scooter had a really bright light so I guess it was okay.

So, we're both racing one another up Hougang...I'm pant pant panting...his scooter ee--ee--eeeeeee. :s22: We were neck and neck along Ave. 3 and then into Hougang Ave. 2.

I am finally too shagged to beat him through a stale green light turning red. :(

After it turned green I tried to catch up and just two blocks ahead of me I see him by the side of the road with his e-scooter folded up and trying to hail a cab! :s13::s13::s13:

Your chain keeps coming off because small wheel bicycle drive chain and wheelbase is shorter than normal wheel bike. This causes much more vibration and it's easy for the chain to come off. especially when the road is bumpy while changing gears. This is a very commonly known problem for single chainring small wheel bike.

You can either put a dummy FD, or you can use this:

Reminds me of the time I was cycling at Punggol pcn.

Saw this ah pek on an e-bike and it zoomed past me easily. I checked my speedometer and I was already at 30kmh. :s22: So I guess he must be easily at 40+ kmh.

One km down the road, i saw him peddling like hamster and moving similar to jogging speed. His battery has run out I suppose. :s13:

Also how to know whether my foldie can fix 11 spd cassette or not? Necessary to change out my 9 speed chainring?

My humble opinion:

I won't mix MTB with road parts, especially if u intend to use short cage RD on your 105.

For small wheel bikes, the chain ring size has to be at least 52.. though most will use 55T to compensate for smaller wheels.

I really don't get it. If you use small wheel, you don't need a 32T sprocket to climb. Small wheels are easy to climb slopes. 28T is the max I go even though its an overkill. My 25T sprocket on my 25-12T cassette has not been used at all and I am regretting... I should have gone for 23-12 earlier. Do you always climb Mount Faber? :s13:

You can always get a Tiagra shifter and a Tiagra RD to pair to save money. As for 11 speed, I doubt your current wheels can take it. Most stock foldies wheel can only accommodate 8-10 speed cassette.

Thanks. I will get zee shifter n rd, 11-28t and keep my 52t.

Any recommendations for 11-28t cassette? Want something cheap but good quality. How abt 105 cassette to match zee rd?

Yes that is true, the chain ring I'm using now is has ramps and pins for shifting

My plan now is to get a bigger chain ring so that I can ride in the middle block of the cassette where chances of chain falling off is lesser
