I'm a frequent rider of Mandai up and down , up and down with myself on weekdays morning 5am plus. Till so many months I still cannot over come the paranoid of heavy vehicles. Every time when the sound come loudly from behind me till it cut me from behind and re take the last lane back I'm always praying to God.

So far, situation is much better when I'm with my group in weekend when we go round island.

Is this a mental illness that only occurs to me? Shall I give up Cycling? Because weekdays morning I really cannot find anyone to ride. The only ride I can do without much fear is 1 ride at weekends :(

It only takes 1 sleepy driver to do the nightmare T__T

I really don't like to put my life in others hands....how like that....shall I just do Mtb? But I really like the road bike look and road bike attire with shades and tight fitting clothes..so dashing :p

The horrific engine sounds from cement trucks and Those Super Long trailers longer than your hdb corridors carrying huge crane on its back. Some more some times is not 1 but 2 -3 such Super Long trailers moving on the left est lane together behind u.....I wonder how amdk rider ride with such ease and as if they are the only one user on the road.

highly recommended bicycle lights. $30 rrp per light. think some shops sell cheaper. headlight is super bright and has long runtime in flashing mode (12hrs). micro usb recharging. water resistant also.

That was my first set of lights. Both front and back set to flashing, very effective as a sign of your existance.

But in the end I went for removable batteries type. A bit heavier, but at least I can drain 'em dry, then swap and go. Old school style. The front light rarely use tho, even in stupidly dark places like the ponggol pcn blackout areas I couldn't be bothered to turn it on.

Sure is scary. I hate those Malaysia tour buses. They horn u then after that drive very close to u, forcing you to retreat to the left side of the road. If u ride outside the double yellow lines, u might get brushed. Our sbs bus drivers at least slow down or will drive towards the right side of the lane.

Actually I have 2 sets of the front light. One mounted and one in the saddle bag as backup. Cus once I went out for a long night ride and it went out of charge as I forget to recharge it before the ride. So now I have backup lights. Btw, it's so small and light that I think it takes up less space then an extra set of batteries.

Ya loh, but joy-riding on mtb and eyes kinda accustomed to night rides along poorly lit routes. Besides, I do enjoy the darkness.

Problem is they don't last long. My front "flood" light I specifically went for the twin 16820 powered BC30, pay a bit more for the combination of light strength and duration. Next time can use for night trail rides mah. XD

Do u all switch on front / rear lights during daytime?

Rear blinker, but only if got hit the roads. If its a short ride in the day, I don't even bring my front light.

Eh, don't scare me leh. >.<

I saw a snake at Punggol PCN before.

I was previously using a thrower light (concentrated, bright narrow spot of light) and nearly ran over it.

Quickly changed to a wide beam yet thrower light (Fenix BC30). Can see both the surroundings and far ahead. Can even use it to flash to warn oncoming bikes/cars/pedestrians.

Places that are dark and require me to switch on full 1800 lumens light blast

1) Punggol PCN stretches.. sometimes the lights are switched off during weekday night

2) Canal pathway linking from Pasir Ris farmway to Pasir Ris dr 3.

3) PCN stretch along Loyang ave after crossing the traffic light from one side of the road to another

4) After crossing the zebra crossing from PCN to GBTB

5) LCK road stretch after Neo Tiew.. many potholes and rough patches

6) West Coast Highway.. many rough roads and small potholes

7) Keppel road.. somehow there's always a lot of construction/cleaning on going and the stretches are poorly illuminated

Nemesismaster, you like narrating some horror story man.

I'm just sharing what I feel every time I ride alone. All it takes is just sleeping driver or a piece of stone at the down slope stretchs of 60km/h (coasting not pedalling!) ....

Maybe it's just me:(

Even recently I bought the fly6 n mount behind me plus the fact that I'm literally a moving Christmas tree also not helping my paranoid ness.

How u guys overcome the fear? Install /transplant metal balls/ bigger balls?
