my birdy most parts upgraded liao. I think only the frame is stock. :o

capreo quite troublesome, need the hub and cassette. rather change to a 406 wheels and bigger front chain ring if top end speed is what you are after.

Classic or The monocoque frame? :s13:

The capreo version of birdy not troublesome , just expensive. 3.2k

:s13:

But from my calculations , even if you change the front chain ring to a 56t on a standard. It'll be 56t/11t ; 5.09 versus 53t/9t;5.8. I don't see how it will be faster then a stock capreo birdy. :s11:

What I'm after is top end speed without looking like a hamster. I'm thinking i rather use muscle over cadence to maintain speed. Because on the Dahon C7 (52t/14t;3.7) that I am now using. I reach a point where I'm pedaling but the speed is already maxed out and it's become unstable to pedal more. (Pedaling where if you let go of the pedals, they free turn like crazy) :s13:

Also I'm not sure why, but only the birdy with the capreo hubs gave me the same feeling as the tyrell fx. The resistance from the gear that indicates when I push it, it really can fly kind of feeling

You max out the cadence.. aka "hamster-ing". You need larger gear ratio.

But sometimes its not just about the gearing. You have to consider some other points when choosing a folding bike.

And there are some concerns i have for small wheel foldy that uses derailleur cassette system with big chain rings.

Will the big chain ring affect folding?

Will the long cage derailleur (or even medium size) easily scrap the floor during turning?

Will the chain maintain tension during folding? I don't wanna have greasy hands and clothes.

No doubt Birdy/Tern/Dahon uses standard MTB/roadie parts but due to geometry and folding constraint, one has to take into account all these.

Must use short cage. Even my previous sora rd hit the ground when i jump off a kerb.

Derailleur scrap the floor. I think by the time I bank atthat angle. The kojak would have lost traction :p

There is a chain tensioner to prevent chain dropping..

Big chain ring shouldn't affect the folding I guess? Or not why would there be aftermarket with those specifications. But I'm no expert.

I guess all these imperfections are in exchange for the compactness when folded. Haha. If I have the space for a full size bike. I would get a Moulton.

TSR or AM series? =:p

This is my cycling friend on his AM.

Derailleur can easily hit the floor since your wheel is small. For 406 wheels, medium cage derailleur can sometimes hit thr floor so for 18" wheels like Birdy... I just find it weird. That's why smaller wheel bikes use IGH.

so dangerous.. no wonder drivers hate cyclist so much

Not sure about this but if you are overtaking two cyclists in lane one you should stay in that lane. Not move into lane two. That's why cyclists can cycle three abreast in one lane only while overtaking.

the feel of the wheelset is everything, if you ride feel lousy thats a lousy wheel

im thinking of the litepro s42

Yep, best judge is when u are riding. However, need to buy first b4 u can do that right?

Will take into consideration Litepro S42, thank u :)

Front O.L.D. is 74 or 100mm?

If you are using kinetix comp, your front o.l.d should be 74mm, which means you cannot use tyrell am wheelset.

Yeah... front OLD is 74mm. Any recommendations for good wheelsets under $500?
