hi HH, I just tendered without a job, as it is depressive to go to work everyday.

I read from here it is not advisable to ask for lower pay than last drawn. Can I know why? I was hoping a lower pay can improve my chances to landing another job.

Also, I am planning to take part-time jobs before my next perm job. But if asked about my last drawn pay, can I state the pay of the job that I tendered from?

They are usually not because most jobs only require a basic degree, then skills are more important

An MBA is only useful if you have relevant work skills already

2) lousy in the beginning but good once you have obtained certain level of work experience. Having a cpa or ca or any relevant certs are also helpful

On the contrary, asking for a lower pay does not increase your chances of landing a good job

Best is to ask for the same pay if you are not working. Asking for a lower pay is only good if you have been out of the workforce for a significant amount of time (more than 1 year)

Hi HH,

I'm a fresh graduate who is interested to venture into IT field, and hopefully into the cybersecurity field for specialized skills in the near future.

Which of the 2 offers will have a better career prospect and stability in the long run?

1) 1-year contract job as a security engineer in the ICT/engineering industry. Training and experience are provided in the cyber security field, however, stability may be an issue due to contract-based and benefits are limited. With the current economy, I'm not sure if taking a contract job is a good idea.

2) Permanent job as a systems analyst in the port/logistics industry. Better stability and benefits, but unlikely to gain experience in cybersecurity.

I also intend to take up cybersecurity certifications on my own, regardless of the choice made. Any advice on the certifications that are more desirable by companies?
