For points 2 and 4,

if a candidate is unlucky, left the company due to poor performance over a short stint, do u still filter out these kind of candidates?

See past track record. Maybe last job 5 years then bad luck join bad company. It happens

In Singapore only got 3 level of companies according to Ministry of Manpower

1) Those that can do recruitment for all levels including temp staff (like Recruit Express)

2) Those that can do recruitment for above 4k per month (like Robert Walters)

3) Those that can do recruitment above 7k a month (like Korn Ferry)

By definition no such thing as minimum 10k a month. :s12:
KFI hunt for ppl at least 250k per annum and above. Don't csb us leh

This means at least 15k and above pm

Quick question TS. I got approached by the technical recruiter of a large company on linkedin. He send me the JD for the role and after receiving my cv I had an interview with him.

He mentioned several interesting things like having a second interview with the team soon and even fly to meet up with the team.

However, after the interview there were no further follow ups from him. I emailed him and also received no reply.

So that means I'm out of the race for the role?

Actually front office people can get as much as 9 months bonua

Sent from GAGT Android App

Front office got many types. Usually bonus is more than 6 months if performance is good.

Imo both are fine.big companies usually are more specialize but hard to move up corporate ladder to manager level

Actually it doesn't matter if start off as generalist or specialist. But specialist a bit harder to move into management level but generalist hard to move into senior management.

If just looking at pay. Regulatory compliance will earn more. And less boring

AML has only taken off in the last 4 to 5 years in Singapore. starting pay can be low less than 3k. But with the right certification like CAMS and with proper career planning your pay will skyrocket in 10 to 15 years

Get certified. Enter before age 35 ideally. At least 5 years experience

Sent from GAGT Android App

Actually recommended to have 7 to 8 years ideally. 5 is the bare minimum.

Pay for junior underwriter will be less than 3k

Once again. Not exactly true. Depends on company to company. Big companies tend to pay more and bonus also more. definitely can hit 3k

Sometimes its not the recruiter's fault

Sometimes their client is taking their own sweet time to decide.

If the client takes his own time then what you want the recruiter to say to you?

Tell you reject, what if the client say shortlisted 2 months later?

It's been less than a month after that interview. So should I keep my hopes up or move on?

Just wait, but be open to other opportunities.

If it comes, great, if not then don't be too worried.

Remember the only good thing is the offer and nothing else.

An interview is relative, you are competing against all the other people who are interviewing with them.

My personal experience with recruiters: some are excellent, some are real bad.

I have used them before to recruit candidates. For the candidates venturing out the first time using these companies and who don't know what is included: medical, insurance, paid only for the hours worked each day, etc. some are played out by these companies.

I will stay clear of young recruiters. They are usually not professional and try to get in touch with too many for one opening and don't follow up or even call you when you agree on a time and day. This is from personal experience.

I would say the foreign ones are more professional. My current job is through one UK guy who really push the company to make the employment happen.

I'll keep an open mind then.

Just noticed they reposted the job 5 days ago. Oh well...

A headhunter divulged my application to another coy, one that I am not interested in. Sugar coat everything and tried to make me sign up..no doubt the remuneration is superb but not what I am looking for. When I refused, the guy actually visited my office and make known that I am looking for another job..it is a foreign recuiter.

Guess got different grade huan.

Then this is a screwed-up company. Do some checks on the recruiting company too, if not heard of don't submit your CV.

so to say, engineers with lousy/average academic results will most likely not be headhunted? regardless of the sector...

It is better if you specialise in a particular field rather than be a generalist. As an engineer, it will be better if you are open to working outside Singapore.

Once you have enough working experience, the degree doesn't count for much.
