Anybody can enlighten if the forensic accounting industry is worth investing time into? Am considering a mid career change so would like to know if there are prospects and good pay for this line?

Thank you!

Forensic accounting is not too bad but you will be better off working in a Big 4 doing it or a consultancy firm

So where is the sweet spot in the industry now? VPs in demand?

Also, is there a value for loyalty these days when banks poach from each other like nobody business? First bank I stayed to 4 years. Next few moves averaged 1 year each

When discussing payment terms, are sign-ons and guarantees still the trend these days?

Yes HH I'm interested to know as well. can you comment on the intangible, "Loyalty"?

Lets say my entire CV I stuck with one bank only

or nobody cares about "loyalty"?

loyalty = no real benefits?

Hi HH,
I am in IT. I feel it is very difficult for a non-caucasian to break higher than 240k p.a.
Is this true? Or is it just my perception since I am not there yet.
How often do you see non-caucasian in IT that can secure a position above 240k p.a.?

Sweet spot?

AVP level roles with around 5 to 7 years experience.

Somehow, VP level roles are not in demand anymore.

Loyalty is still valued. especially if you are looking for a mid career change to another function within the banking industry.

I have seen people move from call center to a VP in Compliance simply because the person has been in the same bank for more than 10 years.

Sign ons and guarantees are no longer the norm. In fact, very few companies give it nowaday unless you are working in specific roles.

As answered above.

Allowance is not considered. Because the other company might give their own allowance as well.

Grades are extremely important especially if applying for govt. Not so much for SME and Start, and depends on what type of MNC

But beyond grades, they also want to see achievements beyond grades

From my experience and personal observations, those with the fastest career progression and pay increases are those that actively switch jobs 1-2 years. Quicker to get a promotion and mark to market adjustment on moving. Staying within the same org tend to lead to inflation based adjustments pa only. Comments?

It depends on how high up the ladder you want to go.

Quick career switches do help you move up the ladder faster, to a certain extent.

But once you reach a certain level, you will not be able to move up the ladder as fast (in fact it will slow down considerably) and the people with more stability will overtake you in the long run

Under what circumstances an agent is reluctant to fight for more salary for their candidate? Because from what I understand, their commission is based on the salary of their candidate.

When the client explicitly says up front that is the maximum they can pay.

Lets say for example you are currently on 5k a month, asking for 6.5k

Their client specifically say the maximum they can pay is 6k (non negotiable)

Nothing the agent can do will change the client's mind

2) You can. But i don't usually reply because this thread is more advisory on how to get a better job, and not legal (i am not a legal expert)

Headcount of permanent staff

Operation in how many countries (globally or regionally) ?

Type of headcount (if a lot of HC is construction workers vs mostly office workers)
