I got a set of MHT 371 recently. Hook up a bluray player using the player's stock HDMI cable to connect to my LED tv. Say if im watching bluray, how do i set a ideal setting if my room is 3.3m by 2.7m only? Basically right now im only using the normal 5chn stereo function. :( The way i see experts here calibrate their HT and the sound i heard from retailers using the same MHT 371, im very tempted and eager to set/cal like theirs :)

Please advice :)

Hi kenapa,

You may need to get it right from the start.

We dont use 5ch Stereo to playback our movies. DSP Modes like 5ch Stereo is mainly meant for Music playback for all speakers. Some other modes like Movie Sci-Fi is good for action movies.

One important thing you need to check is, if your Bluray player HDMI Audio Settings is being set to Bitstream Output. Given your room size for this entry-level set is sufficient. But don't compare your set against some others here as the receivers they are using is different level. Theirs have more sound settings and hence tends to be more complicated.

Start from your current set first is good for your case.
If you need more advice, do return to the salesperson whom you got it from. They can advice you better with the sets in their stores as i dont have the set face to face explaining to you. There is a limitation to explain to you here.

Cheers!

Hi Yamaha, I bought a AVR Rx V371 recently, and was watching happily when it suddenly powered off. I could not on it no matter what. Is there any way to solve it?

Anyone using the Yamaha YSP2200BL digital sound projector?

I just bought a new house and thinking of buying this sound bar and subwoofer.

For its price, is there a better sound bar?

Hi iakmail,

Guess you probably should check on the soundbar discussion thread if you comparing Soundbar category.

YSP-2200 has got the most awards for Soundbar in most magazines and online reviews. Give it a search in google. They tell you all about it.

Cheers! :)

Hi Yamaha,

I have a YSP-2200 soundbar. Is there a way to connect my Iphone or other smartphone to the soundbar? Do I need to purchase either one of these YID-W10 wireless iPod transmitter, YDS-12 iPod dock or YBA-10 bluetooth receiver
? Direct connection via the headphone jack does not work. Also where can I buy the docks if need to. Thanks.

Have the soundbar since Feb. Was tidying up the house n wanted something simple instead of the 5 speakers and amplifier set-up. At the Best showroom the surround effect was good as it was a small confine space. However, as I live in a terrace house the living rooms has no side walls to bounce the sound. So the surround effect is really minimal. Only the back wall, left glass sliding door and the right wall far after the dining area. I went in eyes n ears opened though as I know the technology works best with 4 sided walls. Also my wife not really into those loud theatre effects. So this soundbar does work out well enuff for us. It is definitely better than the speakers from the TV. So if you really need to have a good surround effect, make sure u have at least 3 walls for the sound to bounce.

Soundbar

Hi,

I am using both S400 and YSP5100 soundbars. Previously, S400 was connected to LG55" TV and whenever i switched off the TV, the S400 will be switched off as well. Now I have connected the 5100 to the 55", it does not work anymore. Similarily, the S400 also does not work for another newly connected TV. I have swicthed on HDMI control for both as well. Wonder what the problem is?
Thanks.

Good advice.

Additionally, no matter what, virtual surround can't = real surround speakers

So it just depends how picky are you personally in positional audio and your personal expectations. Of course the saving grace is that most of the time, you just need some form of surround to keep most people content as surround sound accuracy isn't a high priority to most. The keyword is just to have surround sound.

Just a practical point of view.

Hi Atonyt,

You can opt to purchase our YID-W10 or YDS-12 to dock your iPhone or iOS devices. While YBA-10 has officially discontinued, hence we don't carry YBA-10 anymore.

That wasn't a headphone jack on the front panel of YSP-2200. You may wish to drop by Marina Square to make a purchase of the optional docks.

Cheers!

Tks for the info. Is there any other way to connect MP3 players or other smartphones to the soundbar? Apple may change the dock adapter as well.
