Hi,

I am a new member and would like some advice to recommend me a Yamaha receiver. I auditioned the RX-V675 and liked it very much but wondering if it is worth the the extra cash for the RX-A2030 instead.

I only need 5.1 system and won't be upgrading my speakers any time soon. I have the KEF KHT3005SE satellite speakers so I'm not sure the RX-A2030 is overkill. Currently using a Onkyo 707 amp but it has been playing up and would like to upgrade for 3D anyway. I primarily watch TV and bluray movies.

I would like to make the most out of my Panasonic VT60 plasma TV and was wondering whether the RX-A2020 has better video performance over the RX-V675. I understand the 675 does not upscale component input to HDMI (for Wii) which is a shame. I also understand the RX-A2030 has changed from RX-A2020 and removed the HQV video processing and is now using proprietary Yamaha video decoders. Can you advise whether there is any benefit of the RX-A2030 over the RX-V675 in terms of video performance or should I just get a cheaper receiver and let the TV do the processing?

Is there any other model recommended for my set up? Budget is not an issue but don't want to overspend on something I don't need.

Hi,

RX-V675 is sufficient for your speaker system actually.
If you compare over Video processing on V675 against A2020/2030, of course A2020/2030 has better video processing. I would think it's good to see the video processing by yourself to witness the difference.
Better video processor on A2020/2030 is only one of many additional features you will get as compared to V675.
A2020/2030 has alot more then that such as higher output power, 3 Zones, Independent Channel Crossover Settings, and many more.

I think you could consider a more decent range such as RX-A1030 since you don't mind to consider RX-A2020/2030. Unless you have a offer of our clearance price for RX-A2020 by our dealers to clear their stock [which i think it make sense to get a offer price of RX-A2020]. A better output power can give a better dynamics at low volumes. So it makes sense to pay for a decent output power amps and you can don't need to keep cranking up down for a movie during evening time at home.

Hi Yamaha, I just bought the MHT3066 recently, which is the rxv375 with the nsp285 speakers. Am looking to buy two bookshelf speakers for music purposes.

Can i replace two of the satellite speakers with the bookshelf speakers? Any problem when mixing the satellite n bookshelf in 5.1 setting? Or will ypao take care of the settings?

Am keen in the NS333.. which local shop stock it for a good price?

Also, online reviews say that "The NS-333 presents a nominal 6 ohm load with an 87dB efficiency. They needed good quality power to open up properly, and suffered when powered with average receivers and power sources." Is the rx375 a good enough receiver to power the ns333?

Hi bro,

RX-V375 might not be best for NS-333. If you wish to just look for Bookshelves, i would like to recommend you to visit our showroom and i will show you from there.
But another recommendation for you is to have a similar series of Speakers for LCR [Left, Center, Right] channels. Because in movie experience, the same series of Brand & Model is important to be able to reproduce the same tonal character during playback of a movie. Hence, i think it will be good if you could pm me your contact and we'll keep it touch from there.

Hi scadel,

Yes. YIT-W12 is backward compatible for YSP-4100 Digital Sound Projector. While if you are on Apple MacBook or iOS devices, you could consider a AppleTV to do network streaming over AirPlay and use HDMI connection from AppleTV to YSP-4100.

hi i will like to setup a home 5.1 system , however i am abit confused by the differences between :

AVENTAGE A30 Series receivers
V 75 series
and
RX-S600 (slim series)


I am not looking at the highest range but a reasonable range around 3000-5000 for the whole setup.

Wonder if you could advise please?

Hi,
I'm in Tokyo japan now, a friend working here gave me a voucher of 50,000yen from a store BIC Camera. Was thinking of getting a YSP4300 here.
I have some question to ask.

1. As voltage in japan is diff from Singapore, will a step up transformer do the job?

2. Japan set is using NTSC signal, is it compatible with starhub and Mio?

3.Other then warranty issues, is there any other cons?

Do you think it still able to process good quality home theater sound on a blue ray player ?

I have this AVR but not yet bought a Blue Ray player. So far I have been playing those digital movies.

Thought of getting a Blue ray player but if it mean I have to reinvest in another system. I may put it on hold.

In short, my question is - Is the RX-V530 AVR still a good option for blue ray movies. I am ok to connect the blue ray output via its HDMI to my FHD TV.

The sound will connect via Optical

Will movies effects from Blue ray player be as good ?

Hi,

Probably i think it'll be better to understand some basics of new technologies in a Blu-ray disc for Audio. Blu-ray discs have big storage memory. Hence it is able to accomodate higher sampling rates of audio data formats such as DTS-HD Master Audio or Dolby TrueHD.

With this, common Blu-ray player can do 2 audio output options.
[a] Output bitstream the high sampling rate of audio data to the AVR to decode. (AVR must have DTS-HD M.A & Dolby TrueHD decoder)
Decode only DTS / Dolby Digital audio contents to output over Coaxial / Optical output connection into the AVR. (If AVR does not support HD Audio formats such as your RXV530.)

Your RXV530 supports DTS & Dolby Digital decoder.

If you were to purchase a BD Player now and hook up with your RXV530, it will work for sure. But the sound you are hearing, will be only DTS & Dolby Digital. Not the HD Audio formats such as DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD.

The difference is HD Audio formats has higher sampling rates of audio data while Non-HD Audio formats has lower sampling rates. Everything will still works perfectly fine except that you won't be enjoying the HD Audio performance from the Blu-ray disc that you have.

Higher sampling rates means more dynamics and details of contents.

Hope it helps you to decide should you upgrade your AVR.
