Will asus honor the warranty locally if the set is bought from amazon?

Someone asked this qtn before and answer from Asus sales rep was no.

Can I ask how does the PDF rendering of text turns out on the Asus Memopad HD 7? Is the text sharp? I was down at Comex but the display unit does not have any PDF on it to display the text.

Is 7" tablet big enough or do I have to search for bigger tablets?

Depends on your usage. For me, PDFs are best viewed on an 8" tablet. But the Asus is used mainly for travelling.

Also, considering the fact that the Nexus 10 is awfully cheap now, I guess I'll get one.. Soon.

if you are really keen to buy the HD7, I recommend buy it from local retailer($249). No need to worry about warranty problem. although The Open Surface sell it at $239 online but firstly, they only have the white version and secondly, I check that they charge $10 delivery fee for $500 and below purchases.

I just bought mine lime green in colour at Comex under Asus booth (Harvey Norman). $249 with some freebies.

I know this is a Asus memopad HD7 thread but for those who have not bought yet, here's an option u may want to consider.

I was just at Challenger Changi City Point and they are clearing the 2012 NEXUS 7 32GB WIFI for only $249!! Btw, this is the same Nexus 7 that Comex stalls across the road are selling for $399!! The price is so attractive that i had to stop myself getting another one!

At $249, it's the same price as the HD7 (unless you get from Open Surface at $239) but you get a Tegra 3 instead of a Chinese Mediatek soc, 32gb instead of 16 gb, NFC, faster updates and better build quality overall (IMO). Of course u lose the msd slot but OTG is supported.

For those who have already bgt their HD7, you have a fine tablet which i am sure u will enjoy. For those who are still considering, this is another option worth considering.

i juz bought Nexus 7 (1st Gen) yesterday at Jurong Point Challenger at S$249.... love it so much...

Never had problems with flickering in YouTube or reading ebooks, but mine does flicker on n Facebook for some reason

My laptop is a Samsung RC520, there's a SD slot but I never used it before. Will it able to read the MicroSDHC card which I intended to get for the HD 7. If not, how should I transfer files(mainly videos and music) from laptops to either the SDHC card and/or HD 7. I know Bluetooth could do the trick but are there other ways, getting a card reader/USB cable? There are so many different brands out there, Sandisk, Samsung, Kingston, etc. Most probably, I would use the SDHC card for media storage like videos, music, would a class 6 be better than a class 4? I'm a noob in tablet technology just for your info. Thanks in advance

I just got my HD 7 from JP Harvey Norman today. there's was no display set so have to ask the salesman for the set. At first, the salesman said HD 7 was not available yet but I told him their website has it listed and another salesman said it seems to be in their storeroom.

Paid $302($249 + $53(2 years extended warranty) in total. The salesman gave me a 10% discount for the Samsung MicroSDHC class 6 card. the free gift was a ZanTec 3 in 1 Tablet combo pack which includes a 3 in 1 charger and a earpiece. The 2 year extended warranty, according to the salesman include a 1 to 1 exchange if Asus introduce a FHD 7 Memopad(I guess that's not going to happen) within the 2 years.

You can transfer files easily from laptop to tablet and vice versa using a microSD adapter which usually comes with the card, or, if your card supports it, a high speed USB3.0 card reader

You can use the Cloud and Bluetooth or Wireless File Sharing, but none of the other options are as efficient overall
ADD: Forgot to mention: larger file size Bluetooth file sharing would signify you've got a lot of spare time, to put it very nicely

Rising class numbers would mean faster read/write speeds for the cards in worst case scenarios, but practically serve no difference on a tablet that would be used as a media storage and playback device as you won't be using the tablet for high intensity write purposes, so Class 4 cards will suffice

Between the different memory card brands, I'm comfortable with the Samsung Class 6 32GB cards, the text on the card with a blue imprint - It's fast enough to match most 32GB Class 10s with faster random read/write I/O, effectively performing better than the average class 10 from Kingston and Sandisk from my own experience. Sandisk probably has the worst Class10 cards out there, and I wouldn't rely on Kingston Class4 cards (ditched my C4 16GB and 32GB Kingstons in favour of Transcend ones)

Last I heard, the ASUS concept stores [Which I suppose are run by Newstead] in SG carry them, but haven't had the time to check them out myself

I went to digital style@JP and saw the TransCover for the HD7 but it was selling at $79. I decided to get my casing(not the TransCover of course) from Amazon through HopShopGo since it doesn't ship directly to SG. I think within USD45(including shipping from HopShopGo) I can get it. I'm still waiting for it to deliver.

thanks for all info. went down to asus flagship@SLS. only silicon covers available. the 3rd parties ones looks pretty crappy too. guess i'll hold or DIY later.
