Anyone using the above phone with 4.4 android has issue with 5ghz wifi?

I notice that channel 100+ onwards this phone is unable to see. Before upgrade to 4.4 i do not have this issue.

I can NOW only see 5ghz channel below 100. 34/38/51 no issue.

Strangely my A80 still can connect to 5GHz Wifi after the upgrade while my A86 cannot connect until I lower the channel to those below 100. I am using the Asus AC68 router.

Some "good" news for A86 owners...

Other two Asus devices that will eventually get Android Lollipop are the PadFone S and the latest PadFone Infinity, aka PadFone Infinity 2. Once again, Asus can't say exactly when these will get Lollipop, noting that the update plan for the Infinity 2 had to be postponed "due to limitation of the processor." In the meantime, the PadFone Infinity 2 should receive some updates based on Android KitKat.

My Padfone Infinity purchased in Feb (CNY sale) has now gone in to the service centre 4 times in quick succession. Was a great price, but I've been without the phone for almost half that time. :(

- recent apps key stopped working, and bottom region of touchscreen had erratic behaviour.

- got it back after about 2 weeks. "replaced motherboard" they said.
touchscreen and recent apps key seemed to work but haptic feedback was different. realised the next day when I tried to make a call that the receiver had no sound. sent back in the day after. they did the self test on the phone and there was a tone, but tested and verified there was no sound when making/receiving calls.

- ready for collection a few days later. upon getting my hands on the phone, immediately made a call. exact same problem. sent in for service again without even leaving the service centre.

- after about a week, collected the phone. tested receiver working. "receiver was not connected" previously:s11:. when trying to insert memory card, realised there were severe scratch marks and a chip on the sides where previously there were only slight scratches. they said it was recorded that there were "scratches on the sides" when they took the unit in. apparently once there is a scratch recorded they take no responsibility for any further damage.

Realised later there was erratic behaviour on the bottom right region of the touchscreen again. Sent it back in the next day (last week). Thought I'd been patient and reasonable enough, and requested a new replacement unit this time. Still waiting to hear from them.

I have a Padfone infinity and a Zenfone. The Zenfone was sent to Ubi service centre and it was back the back cover no longer able to close properly. It is very obvious the fault of the technician but since i have decide not to use it soon. I did not pursue further.

Hope you get a satisfactory reply from them.

sounds like asus is another brand to stay away from..
i'm sending my npfi in for battery always show 1% value..
hopefully its a straightforward case..
so far the best customer service for mobile phones i cam across is apple and xiaomi..
apple needless to say..1 to 1 exchange..
surprised by xiaomi by their extremely fast turnaround..phone can b repaired in as fast as 30mins..y can't other brands b like them..

I used to be a proud owner of Asus Zenfone 6 so I upgraded to a Asus Zenfone 2, however this Zenfone 2 is really a disappointment.
I bought this Zenfone 2 on 16th May 2015 and its plagued with many issues as listed below. Although I sent it to your service centre at +Serv, they failed to rectify the problems.

1) The "Home" and "Recent Apps" could not be tap. +Serv replaced the LCD front case but the problems still persists.

2) +Serv staff tried to wipe cache partition in recovery mode but the phone showed "Error".

3) An error message "Unfortunately, the process com.android.systemui has stopped" appeared many times.

4) Notifications from sms, Whatapps and Telegram apps only ring once. If the first notification was not read, any subsequent notifications will not have any notifications sound at all. +Serv engineer said its normal!

Sounding my displease and warning to those who are considering ASUS Phones

This is just an experience which I have with ASUS. Currently my Padfone S could not charge. It was sent to ASUS service center for repair.

The service center(UBI) called back in a few days saying that the charging port cannot charge due to customer induced damage which will not be covered under warranty.

I asked what was the repair cost and was told that I had to pay $100 for the repair(By the way, the sales person was Angeline). She also mentioned that I had to pay and additional $30 for diagnostic which I do not understand why this is the case as it should still be under warranty(Warranty should cover servicing charge?).

Hence I refuse. Mentioned that I could escalate this to the higher management and so I did. Apparently, the service center number which was given was only middleman which could not help much. All they could do is to send an email. So you have to wait. After 1-2days. They will call you back saying the management says the same thing can cant do anything.

Here is my explanation of things,

It could not be a deliberate attempt by me to induce damage so that I could send my phone for warranty. Apparently I believe it is due to inferior products used by ASUS that hence gave way and was damaged. I have used many other products and have not faced such an issue even once.

Here are some of the findings which can back my situation:

forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/asus-ecustomer-service-center-336/no-more-asus-phone-me-unreliable-products-customer-service-4722770.html

forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/asus-ecustomer-service-center-336/extremely-disappointed-customer-4241759.html

Sadly I am not the only one with this issue.

Whats the point of giving a warranty when the warranty does not cover such things?

I have been requesting for the 'HIGHER MANAGEMENT' to give me a call back to resolve this issue but all they can do is to actually just give instructions to the middleman to communicate the outcome. Probably just 'hiding' behind so they do not have to deal with customers. In my opinion, COWARDLY.

This went on for DAYS & WEEKS. I even sent them an email and all they can reply is the same. Completely horrible services. ARE THEY ROBOTS?

The worst is, I just received a call from ASUS Service today as I requested to have my phone repaired first and would continue to escalate the issue and they mentioned that they will have to have me accept the quotation again.

They called and tell me that as the USB is now link to the motherboard and the whole thing cost 500+. Plus every other nonsense there is which i was too tired to hear about. ERM! EXCUSE ME! 500+ for a motherboard. Look below:

store.asus.com/sg/item/201409BM300000030

ASUS sells a brand new phone for $299. Why am I paying $500 for just a motherboard? By the way, the person which called me for this quotation to tell me it was $600+ after GST was Angeline (same Angeline which called weeks ago telling me it was 100+ to repair).

Also from the previous cases, the other customer was also charged $100+ for the repair.

When I told her that she was the one who called be earlier to quote be $100+ for the repair, she was dumbfounded. She gave me all sorts of excuses that the price is $600+ now.

Trust me. ASUS is completely untrustworthy. Think twice before you get anything. Although this may just be a case for the padfone and you might thing a computer should be ok. Still have to think twice.

@jonsim86,

Although i personally had okay experiences with Asus service center, quoting you $600 to repair a phone that costs $299 seems rather :(:(:(.

Asus is famous for deleting complaints about their service center 154th style in hwz. Hence, rather here might not do your case much good. Suggest the following:

1) Document how long your hp has been stuck in their service center.
2) Get a quotation in writing from them that the cost of repair is $600. Give them a turnaround time limit, if they need like a week to come up with a written quote.... ask them for a loan handset on the basis that your hp has been out of commission for long enough (if they are smart enough, they should loan you one)
3) Take the quotation, and all the documentation of your grievances. Post it on Asus Facebook https://www.facebook.com/asus.sg, Stomp and Wanbao. Comment on hardwarezone's facebook, link them to this thread whenever they promote Asus (for example posts like this https://www.facebook.com/hardwarezone.com.sg/posts/10155610116240371)

Good luck!

Used the chat client to check with Asus how they handle warranty if i cannot find receipt and if I can just bring my phone and down to the service center. I was told to get the retailer to reprint the receipt. The retailer is Asus themselves! When i highlighted that i bought from their online store in Feb, I was advised to check with the service center for both queries. Then was given a number to call. sigh, asus online store sell us phone but no record?

Called the number, asked the same qns. Was told that i need to bring the power adapter and usb cable as well. So i asked why would they need that, cso replied in case need to charge phone.

Service center got no power adapter/usb cable for the devices that they are servicing?!

In the end, cso checked internally n confirmed i can just bring my phone down.

sigh,y so difficult.

Got me phone back on Wednesday evening. Started using it yesterday. The sound from earphones was still distorted (an issue I brought up when first sending it in), and the phone froze then restarted on its own once.

Giving up on the distorted sound issue. Hopefully that's all it is because otherwise it'll be more trouble than it's worth. Do I want to deal with Asus' Non-service centre again... ? :(
